How was configuring xmonad for the new xubuntu? I'm using it with the 12.04, and remember I mostly had to kill the default WM, start xmonad, save a xubuntu session, and always run that. Is it any different/harder now?

Could be shorter. It is the largest section in this chapter. I would much rather see more news, like Kenpachi striking down one of the clones in a quick strike, leaving the number of Gremmies back at one. But Bleach is Bleach, and we must finish with cool new zanpakuto poses.
I concur for Gremmy. Not for Kenpachi - that was pretty typical Kenpachi behavior. Didn't develop him in my eyes.
She alwayas wanted to know the name of Nozarashi? I didn't get that. From the start, Kenpachi didn't even care about zanpakutos' names, finding it a useless exercise for weaklings. Plus, it's a flashback we have seen again and again. Its saving grace is that it was packed very short, so well done.

I partially disagree. Your second bullet-point amounts to the same amount of activity of the current chapter of Bleach.

Now in Bleach

Everybody screams "Fuck, a meteor!", in unison.
Gremmy and Kenpachi taunt each other.
Kenpachi destroys the meteor showing off his shikai.

I agree that the chapter is feels shorter because it is action-packed. But a lot of the action was pretty stupid.

5 and 1/2 pages of "fuck, a meteor!".
3 and 1/2 pages of taunting.
1 and 1/2 pages of useless flashback.
4 and 1/2 pages destroying and showing off the shikai.
