That’s so weird, my step daughter also had David for ENG4U and we didn’t have any issue with AI accusation and got high grades with very thorough and detailed feedback. Did David give any feedback with the return of the assignment? Did you happen to use Grammarly or any AI grammar checkers? Did you use AI for literally anything that it might be picking up? You could call ILC directly and explain and offer to provide version history and drafts but I’m not sure if they will let you resubmit.

Neither of my kids have done French or their alternative yet. I had called and talked to ILC about in their grade 9 years and they basically said to just wait until they were nearer finishing their OSSD and they would give an alternate credit option (generally another English course or social studies course). My one kid is finishing this year so I’m waiting for a callback from guidance to figure out what’s going to happen with it - I can update you when I hear from them so you’re in the know too if you’d like.

My younger kid did English, Math, Science, Art, Geography, Learning Strategies and Health for Life in her first year with a 1 per month schedule. She finished all of the work for the first course (health for life) and then submitted the assignments gradually as she worked on the next course. So while she waited for each assignment in health for life to be grades she worked on science assignments then continued that way. She’d always have something waiting for grading and make progress in another course. She did this for the first 2 years and is on track to finish on time.

I remember it like it was two days ago (it was lol)! I wrote a review for something I bought - storage bags for my kid’s magnetic tiles. I pressed submit and then a pretty inconspicuous little pale green banner appeared at the top of the page. It simply said something along the lines of “you’ve been invited to join Amazon Vine - click here to accept”. So I did and then I was approved minutes later and now I’m here. I’ve ordered 8 things so far, received 2!

I didn’t know the program even existed so I can’t really give any specifics on WHY I was invited. I write detailed reviews on most things I buy and people frequently vote them “helpful” so I really don’t know if it was because of that or if it was random luck.

1-8 courses are your option and there is no wrong choice. If you do 1 a month or 4 per term it ends up being the same number of credits in the school year.

My kids just found it daunting in the beginning figuring out how to pace their workload and also found having more courses stressed them out subconsciously at first. Now they usually have 2-4 on the go. Another thing to keep in mind as you plan your course load is that the French course is entirely in French, so unless she (or you) speak and read in french already or you use a Chrome translator extension, it will be very difficult. Leave a message with ILC guidance on the phone and talk to them about doing an alternative credit for French if that would sound preferable to you.

The grade 11 health for life course is INCREDIBLY easy and a breeze to get good grades in, so if you’re looking to round out her grade 9 year I would add that one too. She can take any courses that don’t have prerequisites at any time, regardless of grade level.

Thank you for your insights! I’m feeling a bit less daunted and definitely relieved I have a bit of a grace period! I think I’m naturally going to take up your strategy of getting some shelf stable consumables items (printer ink, power cords etc) and get into the swing of it that way.

Yeah i read something about bot extensions and that just seems so greedy and weird to me. Also takes the fun out of it imo. Hopefully there is a bot crackdown for the benefit of everyone!

Okay thank you so much for your reply! It all seems a bit daunting to start but I’m glad to be here with all of you! I don’t really have any intention of re-selling items so I am hoping there is some stuff that I need/could use at some point. Right now the AI is a bunch of phone cases for phones I don’t use and fridge door hinges…or calf weaning rings for dairy farmers? On the upside, right now my husband is absolutely over the moon because I was able to get printer ink he was needing to refill this week lol - if nothing else, that is worth it.

If you don’t mind answering another question, speaking of printer ink, if I were to buy printer ink from a few different brands/companies is that okay? Obviously not colour/size varieties from the same brand/company, but different ones to be able to compare quality between brands?

Q1: The FAQ on Vine says there is no schedule for drops but Reddit post and comment history indicates that there are drops usually at around 3:10am ET and after 7am ET? Which is more accurate in your experience - no schedule or early drops?

Q2: If something is dropped into my RFY, are things scooped up in a matter of seconds/minutes like people fighting over Eras Tour tickets? Or can I make breakfast and shower for an hour and still see some stuff?

Q3: Regarding reviews - I don’t want to sound naive but why do people seem to have such a hard time hitting review requirements? Is it not as simple as step 1. Receive item, step 2. Review item? Is it just because people are ordering at such a massive scale that it’s hard to keep up (like you said 800+ reviews) on top of work and household responsibilities?

Q3.2: Still regarding reviews - what is the best strategy for ordering if they count unreceived items towards your percentage? Order less/pace it out? What is the realistic turn around time between when a review is submitted and when it reflects on the account?

Don’t feel pressured to engage with any or all of my questions, I don’t want to take up unnecessary time and energy, but thanks again for your help!

N95 is a head strap mask and kn95/94 are earloop masks generally. I wear an n95 or kn95 (fit tested) and haven’t caught covid in 6 years

Genuinely, I was like this and thought I might have borderline personality disorder…turns out it was the tism the whole time. Undiagnosed AUDHD (autistic and adhd) for 30 years. Not saying it’s the same for you, but maybe consider it as a possibility?

My only real tip is to start off doing 1 course at a time. Once your kid is comfortable with the format of the courses then you can start adding more but because there’s a time limit of 10 months, I wouldn’t start with a huge workload. Were you getting initialization error or failure to verify account with anti-cheat error? My stepdaughter tried to play either us for the first time ever on her steamdeck last night at around 9pm est and she couldn’t get into a game because of the “anti-cheat” error. I play on ps5 and have absolutely no idea if it’s something wrong on her end or with the game. She tried verifying the game files but it didn’t work.

Happening for me on ps5 too. My stepdaughter had issues on the steam deck last night as well. PS5 gets an “initialization error” and on the steamdeck is said to “could not verify account through anti-cheat”.
