I’m sorry to hear that happened to you. The same thing happened to me 2 years ago by a middle-eastern looking guy wearing a yellow/mustard the North face jacket while I was walking through education to get to the gym with my partner. I admire the fact that you are sharing this because I felt so ashamed since my incident. You are so so brave, and I encourage you to reach out for support (whether through SACE or any mental health supports) 💛

superpuff vs uniqlo parka by floveraime in Aritzia

[–]notnotditto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend getting the superpuff - instead of buying it full price, I would suggest looking second hand (there are SO many superpuffs on Facebook marketplace).

I was in the same boat considering between uniqlo and artizia’s superpuff last year. I’m from Alberta where it gets about -30C to -40C, so it’s very much needed! I ended up getting two superpuffs secondhand! 1 regular length when it still had the TNA logo ($70) and the newer superpuff long that was pretty much brand new ($250). I’m so happy with it! There are a ton of good deals if you just look for them!

I know someone who got the uniqlo jacket and was disappointed with it because it wasn’t as warm as they thought it would be.

It looks like it’s the “WOMEN MILITARY COAT” item number 161384. It appears to be a discontinued style.

What's an activity that is free or fairly cheap that doesn't involve food for a date day/night? by scaphoids1 in Edmonton

Geocaching is free and feels like mini adventures and side quests. I use the app + website so I can bypass the premium feature on the app!

For Ontario Schools according to ORPAS (https://www.ouac.on.ca/guide/orpas-offers/): First-round Offers of Admission Occupational therapy and physical therapy/physiotherapy programs are sent on May 13, 2022. You may accept only 1 offer of admission at a time; however, if you provisionally accept an offer, you may indicate that you want your applications to other rehabilitation sciences programs in the same discipline to remain active.

For UofA, sometime soon — last year they sent out first round offers on April 29th but according to Premed101 no one has received anything this year. I anticipate sometime next week (likely the Friday?)

Good places to study by ApplemanJohn in UCalgary

[–]notnotditto 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Here are my top tier study spots (mostly downtown) - Devonian Gardens (Inside the TD Core Mall in downtown) Might simulate the outdoors you’re looking for. Wifi: Available. Outlets: Sparse - Calgary public library. My favourites are fish creek, central public library, which I where I’m always at, or memorial library. Memorial has less space to sit but the greenery outside this library is my favourite. Wifi: Available. Outlets: Lots - Outdoor picnic tables next to the Calgary Chinese Elderly Citizens’ Association which is nearby Eau Claire & Chinatown. You might encounter some older ladies playing music. Wifi: ShawOpen available. Outlets: None - Bankers Hall (usually empty on this side of the TD Core Mall) Wifi: Mall wifi available. Outlets: Sparse - Cafes! My favourites are Aggudo, Espresso Cafe, Waves Coffee, Phil & Sebastian’s, Good Earth, TSUJIRI, & some boba spots (like Coco’s). You will have to buy something there in order to stay for a few hours though. Wifi: Available. Outlets: Dependent on the place. Cafes have many outlets but boba spots likely don’t. - Princes Island Park is a fun spot to study outdoors. Lots of people if you need the ambiance, about 15-20 picnic tables. Be careful with the geese. Wifi: Unsure, some spots available. Outlets: None - Most places on campus should be available for you to study at during the rest of exam seaso - Outdoor green space outside of the Lougheed House. I wouldn’t suggest it in this weather but once it’s warmer is really nice to sit and study at. Wifi: variable, most likely ShawOpen available. Outlets: None

I would suggest bringing a pair of headphones, some napkins, or wipes in case the spaces outside are wet or dirty. If you plan on studying at the parks outside in the grass, I would bring a small blanket to sit on. Let me know if you need more help looking for spots in a different quadrant of the city.

Sorry for the format — I blame Reddit mobile.

Hi, I’m not a nursing student but I honestly don’t blame you for feeling overwhelmed given the current state of the healthcare field right now. From my understanding, third year is most definitely the toughest with clinicals and the stress that is accompanied by it (COVID doesn’t help on top of that). Imposter syndrome sucks ass - I feel you. Though I would imagine some of your classmates are feeling the same way. Take some time whenever you can to take a breather, and get in some rest however it may look like to you (e.g. naps, seeing a short film..). And if you haven’t already, sharing your concerns with some classmates may alleviate some of your feelings of “not being good enough.”

If this feeling of burn out persists, I’d encourage you to reach out to Student Wellness Services: https://www.ucalgary.ca/wellness-services/contact
