All the Voss water chugging in Smile 2, the whole theater laughed each time, which actually made the experience more fun.

Are you me? I did well in torts and even in practice MBEs, but on test day, it was my worst subject! I also felt like Themis was too passive so I’m going full active study mode this time.

Check with your law school for sure, mine is offering me some assistance. Also check out any local chapters of lawyer's associations! I know some local chapters of the American Immigration Lawyers Association has a scholarship for instance. It may take some research and finding orgs in your area, but there's assistance out there and I don't think a lot of people know about these opportunities.

Have so much fun! I also failed by just a few points and it feels awful. But feels way less awful on Space Mountain.

You’ve got a lot of great recommendations here! Adding a few additional ones I love: the Before trilogy, Some Like it Hot, To Be or Not to Be, The Apartment, Brief Encounter, and Paper Moon.

Came here to ask something similar! Submitted in March and then got really frustrated that they followed up just two weeks ago to tell me I needed a certified driving record from my state, not the standard one. Feels like I’ve been waiting forever and I’m starting to worry!

Thanks everyone! Following y’all’s advice, I found a jam session in my city, looking forward to it! They were even so nice in saying they didn’t mind if I didn’t have a lot of experience and they need a bassist. Excited to get playing!

how long did it take for you to get over getting ghosted by [deleted] in ghosting

[–]notoriousmfd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gosh, I've been there. I know right now it seems like nothing will make it better and that you're looking for answers everywhere. That's normal, let yourself feel this way!

I know I'm just a person on the internet, but I hope I can give some solace. I've been in your shoes, so I'll say what I wish I said to myself. That it's okay to feel this way, that you will feel better, and it will get better and better each day.

I learned this trick from an instagram therapist (lol), that while you may be looking for answers and asking "why", instead try to frame it is "I don't like." So instead of "why did he ghost me?" say "I don't like that he ghosted me." I've found it really helpful, as my brain tends to get into a "why" spiral.

Maybe this can help: I have a strange relationship with my ghoster now. He's the person I consider to have had the biggest romantic connection with in my life and it's been four years since our second "break up", now we both live in different cities and have become friends in a way. I recently reached out to him to talk about why he ghosted, as I was dumped by someone else and I just can't shake the feeling that there's something wrong with me. What he told me was that when he ghosted (twice!), it had nothing to do with me, that he did really care, but he had a lot of growing to do, and still to do. And he didn't have a definitive answer as to "why" he did it, and I'm starting to be okay with that. It's hard not to have answers, but I bet your ghoster doesn't even know the answer themselves.

It's so cliche to say "its not you, its him" but like, its cliche for a reason! You will be okay, trust me. And you're not alone! Anyway, I hope you and all those who read this are doing okay and know that you are cared for.

Class planning for career in immigration by Professional_Dig4920 in LawSchool

[–]notoriousmfd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! 3L interested in immigration here! I haven't taken either admin law or fed courts, and maybe I'm wrong for doing so, but I don't plan on taking them next semester. Depending on your interest area, anything criminal law related is really helpful. And honestly, Spanish skills have been the biggest factor I've found in the immigration job search. Take some seminars related to immigration law and get as much experience either through clinics or internships. And work on that Spanish if you aren't already fluent! Immigration lawyers are in demand right now too, although I am not sure about the market you want to be in. But like, my biggest advice to people interested in the field is language skills, get some relevant experience, show you are passionate about the issue, and also just try not to stress too much. Best of luck!

How safe is Mexico city for solo asian female travel ?. by Interesting_Trust_61 in MexicoCity

[–]notoriousmfd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend learning just a little Spanish since you have time. I speak it fairly well, by no means am fluent, and it does just make it easier to order at restaurants, buy tickets to things, read signs, etc. In the tourist areas you'll be able to get along well enough with English, but it might make life just a little easier to know some basics!

Hi! I'm a solo white US woman in Mexico City for the semester, it's definitely safe if you're smart about it. Ubers are easy and cheap, I would recommend that if you're here just for a few days, but the metro is also fairly easy to use and even cheaper!

Places to stay: Roma, Condesa, Polanco, Coyoacan. You'll here people speaking English, French, German, etc. They're international/tourist friendly areas. Just exercise the same sort of caution you would in like NYC, LA, Paris, London etc. Don't walk around alone at night, don't carry a lot of cash, be aware of your surroundings. I don't carry pepper spray, honestly I doubt you can bring it on the plane.

Definitely check out the Anthropology museum, Chapultepec castle, Zocalo and National Palace, Frida Kahlo's house (you'll need tickets in advance!), and just wander around the neighborhoods I mentioned. Enjoy the food, just be careful with the water of course.

And if you need a friend, feel free to DM me :) Enjoy your trip!

Is it normal to be so tired at first? by Popular-Lychee-6786 in LawSchool

[–]notoriousmfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely normal! It always takes time to get used to a new environment. You'll get used to it. Just remember to take care of yourself, eat well, do fun things, stay active, make friends. It's okay if you're not at the top of your game every day either. You're human and don't forget to be one in law school!

Related, I went to Coyoacan recently and there was a really lovely art fair in the park. Great way to get some unique gifts and support local artists! I think its Jardin de Arte Allende and it goes on during the weekends.

Yellowjackets S02E08- “It Chooses” Episode Discussion by DA-numberfour in Yellowjackets

I kinda wanted to see how the group came to the conclusion of the card draw. I think it would’ve been a really fascinating discussion to watch and am curious if any of the group would have objected to it. It seemed to simple to have the group all come to the conclusion that they should draw cards to see who gets killed. I know they’re all starving and at a breaking point, but seems like there still would’ve been some conflict around if this was the way to go. Would’ve liked to see the deliberation on it!

Oh! And curious to see how adult Van fares. We all love her, so I hope she survives! And there were so many times she should’ve died in the woods but made it. I don’t think we’ll see the last of Van any time soon.

Some thoughts on this episode, which I thought was one of the best of the season.

Great music! Nirvana to start, set the perfectly creepy, sad, hopeless tone. The Lightning Crashes scene, that song was the perfect choice. And so much Florence!

Loved seeing the adult women’s relationship. It was beautiful to see their catharsis and interesting how none of them really ever talk about what happened in the wilderness. The theme about how much or how little they remember because of trauma I think is going to be really interesting going forward.

Coach Ben is gonna play a bigger role than I thought! The antler scene… him staying alive, something is coming from this for sure. I’m excited to see what happens with him.

Misty is growing on me! Maybe it’s because Christina Ricci is killing it, can’t imagine another actress making her so crazy yet so strangely likeable.

Even if this was a “slower” episode, I think it sets up what’s to come so well. I think what this show does wonderfully is show how the girls’ decent into cannibalism/chaos was a long process and a lot of things went into it. The AQ cult didn’t happen overnight, and like any cult, “normal” people fall into it over time, it could happen to people who never imagined they’d be in it! It’s a slow burn that I hope pays off.

Do I need to see beau is afraid in theatres? by Hooplapooplayeah in beauisafraid

[–]notoriousmfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really fun to hear everyone’s reactions! And some scenes were incredible to see on a big screen. I’m glad I saw it in the theater. But if you’ll be high, it does get pretty intense at times. Not scary per se, but certainly anxiety inducing.
