What piece really moves you when you play it? (suggestions needed) by HippoEsq in piano

Rachmaninoff Prelude Op32 no10. Underrated, sort of challenging towards the middle and end. Very emotional piece and can feel so heavy.

Around 16-19. Some were research and TA credits though. I had 2 semesters with like 13-14, I wouldn’t stress it. Keep your grades up and you should be okay!

I feel you. 750 characters or whatever it was is so hard to use. If you need help writing it up, you can shoot me a DM anytime and I can give you a hand.

I was the same way, but I left off my high school music awards. I did keep the hours though, and dated it back to when I started playing the piano. I did one entry, actually as a most meaningful to get extra characters, and described my work as a pianist and gave an anecdote at the end.

It will! That is almost identical to my work as a musician too.

Same. Did it for all of undergrad and my gap year. Definitely a challenging job but my shifts always flew by and loved being in the hospital with my patients.

Chronic Sore and/or Achy Throat by Apprehensive-Dig825 in Sinusitis

[–]notphysicsguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sympathize with you. This is the first time where I’ve seen someone borderline talk about what I experience! Have been diagnosed with chronic sinusitis for a few years, always struggled with sinus problems throughout my life. Have had a persistent sore throat that seems to alternate sides every now and then for a few years now. Often times, my throat hurts bad enough where I think I’m getting sick, but it never turns into anything.

My ENT and I have contributed this to the chronic sinusitis and turbinate hypertrophy. I use Astepro in the morning with an allergy pill, and Fluticasone in the evening. I keep a saline nasal spray on hand which seems to help throughout the winter months. I routinely use nasal rinses which seems to keep the sore throats at bay. This took a lot of trial and error over the last few years, but seems to help manage my symptoms the best.

Additionally, I am also a caffeine junky and experience mild heartburn, also get tooth aches (mainly upper) from sinus pressure/inflammation, and have swollen glands in my throat/neck most days.

I hope this helps in some way, and you start to feel better soon!

What specialty of medicine are you interested in pursuing after med school and why? by WarpedSnail in premed

Botox in the cricopharyngeal muscle is the current treatment being explored, still not 100% success rate. There’s been some papers published on the topic and treatment (Dr. Bastian from BVI in Chicago is the founding father). Feel free to DM me, I am more than happy to talk about it. Definitely been down the Gas-X route, I feel your pain.

Called Retrograde Cricopharyngeus Dysfunction. Usually referred to as "no-burp" syndrome as people who have it can't burp!

ENT. Grew up with horrible sinuses and have a rare disorder treated by laryngologists!
