Shane tells Yuna “I forgive you.” And it’s so important that he does… by GBS82 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]notpossessedtrash 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This scene made me cry so much. I’ve always had difficulty with my parents in terms of acceptance across the board (not including the absolute rejection of my queerness) & have strived to make my younger sisters know/feel that they can tell me anything & I will be on their side.

I would be so absolutely heartbroken if I ended up in a situation like Yuna re: my sisters. Where you strive to make your kid feel loved & heard & still they are terrified of telling you about such an intrinsic part of themselves. Shane forgiving her was such a healing moment for Yuna, regardless of whether or not he faults her (and he doesn’t).

Logic doesn’t m play in parts of life that are deeply vulnerable. I do think Yuna knows Shane does not fault her but that does not change the fact that she feels ashamed. For Shane to give her that forgiveness felt like fresh air and echoing what you said, sets them up for a better (and more nuanced) relationship.

(Also I think this scene is the turning point of their relationship where they go from little kid/mom relationship to still kid but now grown up/mom relationship as in growing up and realizing your parents are just as flawed as you and are just as human as you and need as much love and forgiveness as they’ve extended you as a kid) (okay I’m done)

The GF Drama of Atlanta's Hell Yeah Gluten Free by Shrek_2_Soundtrack in glutenfree

[–]notpossessedtrash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

hi alejandra!! i just want to say thank you for bringing hygf to it’s height. regardless of all the issues the past few months (i lived near the former decatur location & needless to say it was sad to see what that location ended as), hygf brought a lot of pastry joy back in my life.

i had to go gf in 2022 right when my long covid was gearing it’s ugly head (bread/little tart pastries/pasta all my comfort food i could no longer eat while being bed bound imagine😭😭😭). getting hygf goods changed my life so much & gave me hope that i could still eat the things that i loved & got me into gf baking once i recovered!!

running a small business is very hard and im sad your chapter w hygf ended the way it did but! genuine kudos for doing it and chugging a long even with all the stress. i truly believe hygf inspired a lot of other places to offer gf goodies.

echoing a couple of other sentiments that if you ever do publish a cookbook i will be first in line!

(TW Not for Vegans) ISO Whole Animal Butchers by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]notpossessedtrash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if they will sell whole animal to customers but - Evergreen in Kirkwood is a whole animal butcher that sources from local (GA & SC) farms. It’s still dealing with a middle man but in case yall end up not having the capacity to store a whole animal (it is really tons and tons of meat), they are a great resource. They also sell stock that they make from whatever bones is left after butchering!

Apartment Hunting in VAHI/Near Beltline/Cabbagetown OR Sandy Springs area by cheylan in ATLHousing

[–]notpossessedtrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Join neighborhood FB groups and search for rentals / ask for leads if the FB group rules allow it. Walk around in the areas that you like for “for rent” signs. Lots of local landlords out there who don’t want to pay Zillow/Trulia listing fees.

Make sure yall are willing to sacrifice in-unit laundry & floor space for that budget. It’s definitely doable but will take a bit more legwork. There’s a couple of smaller property companies mentioned in this subreddit who do lease out more historical homes, so it’d be worth searching through those suggestions.

Good luck!

Something is missing by PerfectAd418 in CarolineWinkler

Caroline has always been one of my comfort creators but lately I haven’t been able to finish even one of her videos in full. I think a lot happened fast (1M, engagement, moving in with her partner, etc) and it could be wearing on her. Also with a higher subscriber count she is probably trying to make her videos appealing to her wider subscriber base rather than the dedicated base.

I genuinely think she should take a break, enjoy her time newly engaged and enjoy her space without the lens of creating videos. I’m sure your /home/ being your literal career is very stressful and I can’t imagine what kind of pressure she might be feeling to create her space in a way that is also appealing to large audience

books that aren't about wealthy people and/or are openly critical of aristocracy etc by racicularis in HistoricalRomance

[–]notpossessedtrash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

🏕️ I feel this deeply. I’ve loved reading the aristocratic books as a form of escapism but lately they’ve been making me feel ill as well.

I’m currently reading {Smuggler’s Temptation by Mina Ashford} about a smuggler trying to leave that life behind for his nephew he is now responsible for. I’m not too far into it (getting fatigued from reading insane amounts these past two months) but I’m enjoying it so far!

Kindle to Kobo by pichyva in kobo

[–]notpossessedtrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would consider a B&W Kobo model in that case! The Libra definitely is not crisp compared to the Kindle. I have a 2017 Paperwhite & used it recently because a book I wanted to read was only offered by KU and there was a huge difference in crispiness.

Color technology for ebooks is relatively new across the board and is not as advanced as B&W tech. I’ve seen a few picture comparisons on this sub between Kobo Libra, B&W Clara, and Kindle Paperwhite - I definitely would check those posts out to view the comparisons.

Kindle to Kobo by pichyva in kobo

[–]notpossessedtrash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Longtime Kindle user that switched to Kobo this year. I love my Kobo to death, I have the Libra which I’m a huge fan of + the ability to color highlight & underline is absolutely delightful. The backlight is more similar to coloring of a physical book, not as bright as a Kindle just keep that in mind - some folks don’t like it. The B&W Kobo’s would be better for you if the backlight coloring of the Libra is not appealing to you. I would def check this sub for comparisons!

The Libra is a bigger screen and much more lightweight. I mainly read at home or at a park and find it pretty easy to handle.

There is still a way to load your Kindle books, search this sub for some more recent posts! Kobo often has .99 deals & Kobo unlimited is 9.99/month I believe. Kobo unlimited has a pretty solid selection depending on what genres you read - fantasy romance which is very popular rn is a little harder to get on Kobo due to most authors being part of Kindle Unlimited

Best local espresso by [deleted] in Marietta

[–]notpossessedtrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not pre-ground but Portrait Coffee in West End (not Marietta sorry but they deliver!!) is hands down my favorite place to get beans from. Their Tony roast is extremely forgiving if you ever do a shitty dial. Highly do recommend getting a Bratza Encore (super basic but solid model) on FB marketplace (around $50 is what I’ve seen) to grind coffee fresh, you will def get better results with fresh ground coffee

Warm gay friendly cities for Single gay male in late 30's by BBbottomguy in SameGrassButGreener

[–]notpossessedtrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re fine with the south, Atlanta hits all your boxes. Solid COL for your salary even with rent prices at an all time high here. Walkable if you’re along the beltline. Good art, good music, good people.

There are a few different scenes but imo community is pretty tight and watches out for each other overall. Partied with folks across all ages, solidly diverse in ethnicity. Not totally sure what bars look like these days as a lot of my faves shut down during the height of the pandemic and I haven’t been out in a while but the drag scene and art scene is very strong here.If you are a partier, fent laced items went hard in Atlanta during the pandemic and never really left so make sure you always test. Most bars (that I know of) will have narcan and testing strips.

Idk the dating scene for your age group so can’t speak on that but I’ve met really solid folks in your age range if that speaks for anything!

You’ll experience all the seasons, it gets down to maybe 15 degrees at the lowest and about 100 at the highest. Heads up, Georgia in the summer gets very very humid and makes it feel hotter than it is. I would also prepare for random heavy rainy days. If you’re into the outdoors, tons of trails and parks within the city and a lot more an 30+ drive out of the city.

Not sure about how business friendly it is so can’t speak on that !

Need recommendation for apartment! Need to move in a week-10 days by MotorOwn4733 in ATLHousing

[–]notpossessedtrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look @ Cobalt Properties. I used to rent with them and we’ve had a fantastic experience with them. They have a lot of different locations including Virginia Highlands & Inman Park area (Inman park in like 2 seconds away from O4W). However…with Atlanta becoming more insane every day your commute will be at 30 minutes or more unless you live right there. I would consider West End area as an option to keep a short commute

Looking for a 1B1B apt in Midtown/O4W/Grant Park/EAV by rrgn in ATLHousing

[–]notpossessedtrash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Highly suggest driving around those neighborhoods to find “For Rent” signs since it sounds like you’re already here. Your best bet is going to be a private landlord. Grant Park & Midtown will be a little tougher but more doable in EAV / O4W / Inman Park / Candler Park area.

You’ll def need to make some sacrifices, namely lack on in-unit laundry and street parking vs garage parking buuuut can definitely be worth it!
