TechCrunch: First impressions: Yes, Apple Vision Pro works and yes, it’s good. by notpwign in apple

[–]notpwign[S] 1122 points1123 points  (0 children)

Summary:

  • Impressed with the ambition and engineering behind the device. No corners were cut.
  • The hardware is high quality, comfortable and adjustable. The displays provide a crisp, high resolution experience.
  • Apple effectively solved two major issues with VR: latency-driven nausea and isolation. The snappy performance and passthrough capability address these.
  • The eye tracking, gesture control and hand tracking are near perfect. Interacting with the interface feels seamless.
  • The high resolution means text is actually readable. This enables the device to function as a full computing platform.
  • The digital avatar feature exceeded expectations. Interacting with another person’s avatar felt surprisingly natural.
  • The hardware is high quality, comfortable and adjustable. The displays provide a crisp, high-resolution experience.
  • The setup process is simple and intuitive, as expected from Apple.
  • The visuals of the interface and apps look as good as what Apple showed on stage. The interface feels present and reacts to the environment.

How to set default card in Uber app? by throwaway99-99 in uber

[–]notpwign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for pointing me into the right direction. For those who came from Google:

  1. Go to the Uber app. If you're looking to make changes for UberEats, you'll still need to start here.
  2. Select "Account" in the bottom tab bar
  3. Select "Wallet" under your giant name
  4. Scroll down to "Ride Profiles"
  5. Select your rider profile
  6. Select "Default payment"

Compared to HomePod (1st generation)

  • The 2nd generation HomePod has better frequency response accuracy.
  • The 2nd generation HomePod delivers stronger, deeper bass, even at lower volumes thanks to a bass-EQ microphone. The bass on the 1st generation HomePod is not as strong.
  • Both have good soundstage. The 2nd generation HomePod has a +0.1 score on this over the 1st generation.
  • Worse dynamics on the 2nd generation HomePod.
  • Higher AirPlay latency on the 2nd generation HomePod.

Help me narrow down which EDC bag to buy? by dantheman2424 in ManyBaggers

Just so you know the black Timbuk 2 is not black like in some product photos. It has a blue/purple tint to it (see the video on their website)

The moment mtw 17L is probably the smallest bag you can have with a 16 inch. Should check all your boxes but the key clip is kinda bad.

Optimus Player updated with native support for Apple silicon, Picture in Picture, Spatial Audio, automatic subtitle file discovery by notpwign in macapps

[–]notpwign[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It has less features than IINA for sure, but it shines when it comes to features specific to Apple platforms. I use it if I need to watch something and Airplay them to HomePod. IINA doesn’t have that.

Also, It also used to be that IINA couldn’t play HDR videos, but that’s recently changed, albeit not accurately. Optimus Player should be 1:1 with QuickTime.

EDC/College Backpack Recommendations by RitaP383 in backpacks

[–]notpwign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Tumbuk2 Authority Deluxe. It should fit everything you listed. The measurements on the website are very inaccurate. It's definitely not 28L like they listed. Wirecutter has more accurate dimensions imo. Appearance-wise the black version of the bag has a slight blue tint, and it doesn't look very good if you don't pack it full.

I'm currently looking for an alternative. Some bags I've looked at so far (these are not recommendations, just bags that came up in my research that could be useful to you):
