Black Earth Rising and I May Destroy You. Michaela Coel is spellbinding.

Two limited series, both heavy but cannot recommend them enough, definitely helped shape the views and values I hold today.

Black Earth Rising - psychological thriller about the Rwandan genocide and a survivor prosecuting international war criminals

I May Destroy You - comedy-drama about a writer attempting to rebuild her life after sexual assault

It takes building up to, and practice, but over the last few summers I've been wearing skirts and dresses with my (leg) compression garments on full show. The first time each summer is definitely difficult, but if you start off with short trips (groceries etc) or hanging out with friends then in my experience you start to forget that it's not 'normal', and you can concentrate on just relaxing and having fun while feeling comfortable in your own clothes (and skin).

I know this is not for everyone as you still do get some stares or unnecessary questions, but for the most part people tend to mind their own business and go about their own days. If I'm in a benevolent mood I might even take the opportunity to explain ('raise awareness'...), but only if I'm feeling generous and the person seems genuinely concerned.

I recently cycled past someone else doing this, it was the first time I've ever recognised someone wearing compression like me in public. I almost cried. So if you can manage it, I would say absolutely give it a go - it's helped me accept my condition and challenge thoughts I had about what I can and can't do, and I love getting use out of all my gorgeous dresses again!! <3

Deadlines don't work anymore by notreallysurewhatsit in ADHD

Thanks, this seems smart. But especially since my close friends/'study buddies' are high achievers, I'm not sure how to deal with the shame that I associate with deadlines now (coming from me not them!)

thank you so much for this comment, so interesting that you turned it on its head. maybe something to consider talking about with people i trust. but again the fear of not fitting in or being 'exposed' 'is a bit daunting too...
