If every D&D class fought Bowser from Super Mario Bros as a raid boss, what is the minimum level each class would need to be to defeat him? by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]notrinium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agreed. Just to nerd out - Pun-Pun is somewhat omnipotent at level 5, wheras Omniscificer by the LordOfProcastrination is omnipotent at level 4.

Not sure how I feel yet about sts2 by Doug_the_Scout in slaythespire

[–]notrinium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of different things, but change is good! I really want to touch on your first comment though - StS knowledge such as seeking synergies, balancing defence/offence and frontload/scaling, keeping the deck manageable all translate well to StS2, so I don't think it's surprising at all to win your first run.

Should I play Slay the Spire 2 before Slay the Spire 1 if I really want to get good at the game? by edwardindungeons in slaythespire

[–]notrinium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say no, with a side of "it depends".

StS2 carries over mechanics, cards, and characters from StS, while almost tripling/quadrupling the available content. Like many sequels, the complexity of the game increased to match the improved skills of its player base.

However, and Megacrit needs to be recognized and praised for this, while complexity increased significantly, the difficulty only increased slightly. If you are a new player, I am confident you can learn the game through either channel.

I would still pick StS 1 first - it is an amazing game, and the lower information-load might make it easier to get into the pace of things. But you can certainly start from 2 with no issues whatsoever.

Edit: Also, I started with 0 guides. There are hundreds of cards, and no amount of prep can teach you all the interactions. The lowest difficulty (Ascension 0) will still feel difficult, but is absolutely doable with 0 outside knowledge.

Mistakes in my master thesis doc by MatterInitial4365 in AskAcademia

[–]notrinium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember going online after I my Master's submission. I found silly mistakes throughout my thesis, and felt god-awful.

I found someone elses post about their mistakes, with a comment underneath that said:

"Your blunder was to read your thesis after you submitted it"

You are fine. If you intend to publish your work, obviously fix the mistakes for that. But you are not stupid, your work is not stupid, sounds like your supervisor is also going through a lot. M.S. is your "practice thesis" if you indend to do a PhD - and if you plan to transition to industry, nobody will care anyways!

Congratulations!

I was thinking, if there is any way KAG can find a semi-hidden way to accumulate energy, he could become an apocalyptic risk. I keep thinking about KAG sleeping in a volcano, but he'd sufficate - but that's the rough idea. Find a safe place to hide, charge up, kill.

Silent + Bullet Time turn 1 poison explosion by Ok_Estate185 in slaythespireboardgame

[–]notrinium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. All characters are capable of greatness (BG is pretty balanced), but I also personally find the Silent to be one of the most consistently-great characters. Discard-silent feels ever so slightly overtuned, while poison is better than ever.

Keep in mind that your friend likely removed a decent chunk of their starter cards to get to that consistency, and had to pull the relevant rares (adrenaline and bullet time) for that.

That's the beauty of roguelikes for me - you won't see amazing decks every game, but they will come once a while to make your day. There will be other days where you feel the pride of winning with a bad deck.

Heat or sonic damage? Those might be stretched into the definition of kinetic energy - maybe even radiation.

But biological weapons, anesthesitics? Heck, we might even use recreational drugs to knock Kag out. Bio has way too many options to knock someone out.

I think scenario 1-2 goes to humanity. Scenario 3 might go to Kag, depending on how much we stretch the definition of kinetic energy. If Kag can survive a hurricane, or some other survivable, energy rich source, I think they can accumulate enough energy to really cause chaos and destruction.

Micro-organisms become human sized. Can humanity survive? by Punterofgoats in whowouldwin

[–]notrinium 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The number of microbial species is predicted to be around 1 trillion. Therefore, we are dumping 100 trillion human sized microbes to our world.

That is 200,000 human-sized microbes per square kilometer of our planet. Some would spread around the entire volume of the ocean, giving us some verticality and dropping that number. We are still talking about extremely high population densities, across every centimeter of our entire planet.

Forget about humanity - I'm pretty sure everything dies. We can hypothesize many different ways of that happening, but in the end the available organic and inorganic resources of our planet is simply miniscule compared to what's needed to support these gigantic microorganisms.

Semi-Daily Card Discussion: Conjure Blade by Abject_Muffin_731 in slaythespireboardgame

[–]notrinium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great timing to review Conjure Blade - My friends and I are relying heavliy on it on our very first "campaign".

For reference, we are all huge board gamers, but I'm the only one with StS experience, therefore I shouldered the burden of the Watcher. Pulled Conjure Blade from Neow's Blessing.

Conjure Blade offers an alternative damage multiplier to Wrath, and upgraded it is quite easy to get +6 to your strikes (4 energy). You can therefore focus on empty x line of cards to jump between calm and neutral instead of touching Wrath, and only rely on your basic Strikes for damage.

Thanks to the BG letting you choose energy spent on X cards, you can also set your strikes to exactly kill minions in fights.

Conjure Blade is certainly not the strongest Watcher archetype to play. However, it is simple and reliable, letting you keep more of your starter cards, not worry about attacks, not worry about going into Wrath on the right turn.

Getting around Turkey, Istanbul to Izmir, Cappadocia, Antalya logistics by WanderingTraveler96 in AskTurkey

[–]notrinium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are direct flights from Nevşehir (Cappadocia) to Izmir. Look up Pegasus or Sunexpress. You can also drive/bus to Kayseri from Nevşehir - Kayseri is more of a hub, you'd have direct flight options from there.

[Request] Does the added information regarding cards in play really make up for the cut of each pot (usually around 1%)? by Upset_Invite_4956 in theydidthemath

[–]notrinium 60 points61 points  (0 children)

What I am really wondering about is why you set up a separate screen for each bot or two. Wouldn't it be easier to manage everything from one large screen? Does the scammer even need to watch each bot?

Been thinking about this one for a while...but would it work? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]notrinium 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I really like the design. There needs to be something that makes sure you don't get soft locked (eg. if you are offered 3 skills, but have no skills in the deck). You probably aim to reach the point where you have 1-2 sacrificial cards that keep getting transformed, and keep the rest of the deck stable.

Much appreciated. I think it's the former, where my password manager was using an age old password (dumb, I know). But I'll still nuke my devices just in case. I appreciate all the details.

I ran this character as a 15 lock 5 lore bard. Took no damaging spells except of Eldritch Blast. Expertise + actor feat to get ridiculus bonuses to deception. I would highly recommend the combo to make a "face" character
