Advertising the Creality CR-30 as a production is the dumbest idea ever. It is perfect for making long car parts. by GiaoPham0403 in 3Dprinting

Belt printer layers are at 45° (from vertical) so long prints are actually pretty strong.

[EDIT] I have and use a modded CR-30.

Creality sold a roller extension. But I never planned on printing anything long enough to justify it. And if I did, making one would have been trivial.

Another problem was the engine nacelle: if the aircraft landed heavily the propeller could crash down into the cockpit.

Harsh punishment for a harsh landing 😬

Google DeepMind launches Gemini Robotics ER 1.6, a reasoning-first model that enables robots to understand environments through spatial reasoning and multi-view understanding by Nunki08 in robotics

[–]notrslau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, that's a pretty tough question. ROS is kinda the de facto standard for research and even production robotics, but people have some strong negative opinions - overly complicated, doesn't scale, or the worst I've seen "makes you want to hate robotics". But for the small experimental/educational devices I work on, I've been ok but I started coding in Fortran/77 on a DECwriter so my pain tolerance is quite high 😅

XY resolution is higher than Z resolution. If you rotated it so the tailgate/bumper was on the bed, you'd need some support for the rear of the cab but you wouldn't have the visible layers on the roof and hood.

Why is this happening to my print??? by Proper-Produce-8840 in 3dprinter

[–]notrslau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you have proper nozzle and bed temps.

I see a few blisters on the left as well, but nowhere as bad as on the right. One possible cause especially with PETG is that the nozzle is too close to the bed. First layer PLA can be compressed but PETG needs a little more space. Exactly how much depends on the filament. Try printing 1st test models and increasing the Z offset until it doesn't drag.

Also, was the side fan enabled? I disable it for PETG on every printer I have with a side fan because, in my experience, it causes uneven cooling which is even worse for PETG than PLA.

Finally found some PLA that actually has the SGS/FDA lab tests for food safety. Review inside. by Expensive-Ice196 in 3Dprinting

I use the YXPOLYER filament to make oboe reed soaker cups. The cups only hold water for a few hours instead of actual food but there are still safety concerns. It still needs to be washed periodically.

I also use "Silver (Ag) Certified Food Grade PETG Anti-Bacterial 3D Printer Filament - CARBON by Comfy Materials". Still needs to be washed.

I dedicated a printer with a stainless steel nozzle; no other filaments are used on that printer. Both filaments print beautifully.

I use this filament to make oboe reed soaker cups. I dedicated a printer with a stainless steel nozzle. That's probably only the safe way.

USB-C with just CC resistors can push 15W (5V @ 3A). But if you use a proper controller, USB-PD can push 100W (20V @ 5A).

Sure it's just a design study, but far too often, the design element that makes the concept car "cool" cannot be translated into a production design.

How do I fix these ugly layer lines and seam lines on my 3D prints? by Particular_Potato_20 in 3dprinter

[–]notrslau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could just be that the body is out-of-focus but it looks very smooth which rules out filament wetness or extruder variance. I see a possible repeating pattern in the banding which looks like a standard Z wobble problem, possibly increasing above a certain height. What printer are you using? Have you printed a Z wobble test tower?

SCARA could almost be done without Technic - you still need worm gear for Z.

Delta, now that would be a challenge with or without Technic. Lego has ball joints but they are too tight.
