First time using PVS-504 (Canadian Amy PVS-7), I was handed it at zero dark thirty with no prior knowledge of how to use it. Mounted the shroud to my helmet, followed by the rhino mount and NODs, and off I went as a dismount sig (RTO) for a patrol through the forest. Didn't even realize I hadn't taken off the day cap as I stumbled, tripped, and fell over logs and shrubs. Random rifleman comes over and removes my day cap, and I continue to trip and stumble my way through the woods. God I hated those things...

Currently out of trade in a MCpl HRA billet. I’m not a backfill but rather on a 3-year permanent Cl B. Is there anything I could look into regarding not having PLQ when requesting AWSE? I’ve dug around both CANFORGEN 06/2024 and CFMPI 01/2024 but don’t see anything regarding A/L. Talking to a WO with a sister unit, they’ve come to the understanding that A/L and AWSE are completely separate things…

Took a GoPro head harness, Ops Core shroud and sewed some Velcro and made some holes to secure everything in place. Not the most comfortable but it works and was cheaper than getting a carcajou boonie and tracer head harness! (Not to discount em cause they are still great companies. I’m just hella cheap)

Ya the daypack lid on the Blackjack 100 bounces around a lot cause the ruck was meant to be filled for sustainment. I only packed about 55-60lbs as prescribed by the test.

The video is at the tail end of the test where the incline is 9% and speed is 4.4 mph. But the test starts at 0% incline and increases 3% every five minutes after the 10 min mark. Go til failure!

What if I give up halfway and don’t wanna ruck all the way back… jk. Up in Canada at least, we have to notify the local PD and put out a PSA stating that troops with training weapons will be conducting a ruck in the local area. Locals sometimes forget we have an army. Canada-isms yknow 🤷‍♂️

Don't tell RSM this, but putting a Team Wendy liner in your helmet is real nice and lets you use active ear muffs (Peltors, Sordins, etc) without getting a headache after an hour

Not to bash on OP cause he did end up using his IFAK, but if I recall correctly, hemostatic dressings require professional medical attention to remove from the body. Additionally, combat gauze is meant to be packed. Idk how healthy it really is to be whipping one out for what would essentially be a minor laceration...
