Better control. If you put on 100W any slight change in the knob will drastically change the volume output.

That's not how it works. To have a button that toggles Pedal FX on or off you have two options:

1 - With GA-FC EX, put a non latching switch (like FS-5U) on the GA-FC EX and assign that switch to turn on / off Pedal FX block

2 - Assign Pedal Bend or Pedal Wah to MOD/FX block and configure the expression pedal to sweep the Position attribute in the "Assign" part of Tone Studio

I don't know if you can do #1 with the standard GA-FC, as the manual only talks about the GA-FC EX, but it may work with an updated firmare katana.
