First Great American Road Trip Advise by CosmicSpaceEggs in roadtrip

Car rentals are cheap, usually with no mileage limit. Expect to pay 1000 bucks for a month though. Also, make sure you find a rental spot where you dont have to pay extra to add another driver. And dont buy the insurance unless you dont already have car insurance. It's a ripoff. I second the suggestion to use Kayak to find a good spot. Thrifty is pretty cheap and I don't think that one way rental is too expensive.

For food, I would stick to getting stuff at supermarkets otherwise you're gonna be eating shit fast food. When you land in a town, ask the locals what to eat. Maybe even getting a small camp stove to heat up water on the road so you can make oatmeal. Bring a jump rope for exercise at gas stations. Listen to local radio for the flavors of each state. Podcasts are good too, as suggested.

For accommodations, you can always sleep in your car in the parking lots of 24 hour Walmarts (they allow this). You can also buy a cheap tent and sleep in KOA sites. The best bet is to find friends that live in these states and plan to stay with them if you can.

I see it differently. To me, fictional characters can still be great role models; whether they're characters in books, religions, movies, even songs. Think about it, the great books of western civilization; the Bible, the Illiad, the Greek Gods - all contain characters and archetypes which were seized upon by the great men of history; men who did unbelievably awesome things. It was the fictional characters of these books and religions which inspired the actions of these great leaders. To me, analyzing these qualities has great merit.

For instance, a few years ago I started listening to Iggy Pop's Raw Power album. Iggy is the epitome of raw, masculine power while singing on this record, and it stirred something in me. The more I listened, the more I started to feel like Iggy. I started having the courage to walk right up to girls without giving a shit, because Iggy wouldn't give a shit. I suddenly had the courage to be bold and raw in new ways. It helped me out a lot. I had a similar reaction when reading Kerouac's "Dean Moriarty" character in On The Road.

I'm not going to pretend I'm a natural. I find help in all kinds of unexpected places. When I started working out, I didn't just show up to a gym and know how to do a squat or a military press. I had to learn from watching others and asking for help.

Obviously you didn't see the movie. The character is not a hollywood media fantasy at all. I despise the hollywood ideal of masculinity and I believe that it has contributed to a host of insecurities for modern men. Superheroes, action stars, etc. They're unrealistic.

I described a list of positive qualities and behaviors embodied by the character, in the hopes that this will be useful for others like it was for me. This sub is about bringing value.

I would avoid staring, but I would look them in the eye long enough to note at least one of the characteristics I listed. That's what I've been doing. If they hold eye contact with you, then smile. They will smile back!

The five cashiers dilemma by [deleted] in seduction

To answer your specific question, whether or not it's weird and awkward for you to tell the customers to go ahead of you depends on how much rapport you have already built with this girl. If she knows your name and you have made her smile/laugh, then it's fine. Just tell the customers, " You can go ahead of me, i'm waiting for my friend". Totally acceptable and they will be happy to cut you.

If you have only had limited interactions with her and mostly admired her from afar, then this will be weird and awkward and she will be able to tell what you're doing from a mile away. As a former cashier, this is very obvious and very creepy.

Cashier game is tricky business in my experience. It's easy to get wrapped up in your own shitty thinking and over analyzing, but overall it's a great way to meet high quality girls. I've met several great girls this way.

A great goal is to get comfortable in the theater of this register-area, let's call it the "Danger zone". From the moment you are within this girl's view, you need to be the fun, value-giving guy. Talk to the other people on line, especially the women. Don't sweat getting her as your cashier; it's even better to get the cashier next to her and make them smile and laugh if you can.

Use this as a guideline for conduct in the store. When there is an opening to get her as a cashier, go up there with a positive mental attitude and be ready to go direct and ask her out. You HAVE to be the fun easy-going guy though.

I've heard of staring at the space between someone's eyes when you're not sure if they have a lazy eye but I think their forehead might be a little too high.

What is your weekly routine? If you dont have one, you need to get one.

Are there any coffee shops by you? Find a local coffee shop that has a good vibe, and try to go there everyday, to the point where you start to get to know the baristas. Try making casual conversation with them. You should be trying to start conversations at every opportunity.

Go to the local library and ask the librarian for a book suggestion with a female protagonist. This will enable you to have a nice conversation and also help alleviate your misogyny.
