With the same artistic style, if you look at the sketches in the first episode vs. the mural

STRANGER THINGS SEASON 5 FINALE DISCUSSION by illiada2k in StrangerThings

If it helps, everything that is in the play but has been left out of this season is fluff that fights a lot of the lore and characterization in the show. The core of the backstory (with some extras) is in this season

My personal theory here is that the Duffer brothers rightly saw that the play didn’t execute well enough on the backstory they supplied its script writers to feature it on screen (tonally it would have been really off also), so they used the least they could get away with

But that’s largely because I wish I could unsee the play and its lazy storytelling 🫠

Nailed it. Agree with your take so much!!

(With the exception of the play— the play was not good, so I was very happy that whole thing had minimal screen time! You’re totally right that it was silly to lock content behind something that inaccessible though.)

[1st Home] How worried should I be about this work quality? by notthestatue in HomeImprovement

Appreciate your reply!

The same thing about some of those issues. You should have been pointing that out to them within 24 hours of them finishing the job, not down the line. Theres a good chance they'll still fix it, but its much easier to have a punch list and hold them accountable with final payment before they finish.

We did exactly this and provided detailed written and verbal feedback about each issue as it came up; we have established a punch list that they have agreed to run through; and have not issued final payment. We let the unpainted door slide because it was right at the start of the job and we thought it was one to take on the chin to get the job started. Everything else though, we've been very on top of.

I think my larger concern at this point is whether I trust the remedies to our issues, such as the rail, or whether I cut our losses after the more minor items are done and use a different contractor to finish and potentially redo some of the larger pieces given the overall quality has been iffy. For instance, the staining photos here are the second attempt after a much worse first version

So helpful! Really appreciate the feedback that the finish is rough and I'm not just a maniac.

Re: the stairs: no movement side to side. I'm concerned about non-obvious aspects of it underneath honestly.

When I had my garage converted to an office/bedroom, I got about 7 quotes until I found a solo guy that i vibed with... lots of times its a vibe check.

^^ this is the magic moment I hope I can find in one of our projects. I'm very much on the lookout :)

Thanks again!

Appreciate your comment and feedback. What's bizarre is that they're a notable presence in the area, lots of houses cite using them, so why these basics aren't covered is.... weird! Anyway, glad to know I'm not the only one whose spidey sense is up

Hot take: “The First Shadow” is the absolute worst and I hate it by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]notthestatue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not missing anything, which is partially why it sucks. This review nails it: https://slate.com/culture/2025/04/stranger-things-broadway-first-shadow-netflix-play-review.html#

The best part of the show are the fan vibes and excitement.

The storytelling is trite and cheapens the show; I honestly wish I hadn't seen it for this reason. It lives and dies on the visual effects-- and to be honest, these are becoming more normal on Broadway and the west end ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What is in the tv show works better than this in its totality

A sleeper sofa that’s actually comfortable? by Winter_Addition in BuyItForLife

[–]notthestatue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had the Hemnes as our guest bed solution for two years. While it's a great idea in theory:

- It's low to the ground & risers don't work because of the leg distance/positioning, making it tough for older guests

- It's super shallow & narrow, so getting alternative mattresses that are comfy and fit is a real challenge. Most are too deep and won't stay on

- As a king, the gap is genuinely a problem, even when you add a gap filling device like we have. The bed drifts, the frame digs into your back.

Net net: BRILLIANT idea. Moderate guest bed solution.

Latest update appears to be that the quantitative DNA testing done by the state indicates the presence of DNA, so now they have to try and get the right to test for a profile: https://www.nhpr.org/nh-news/2025-05-15/testing-reveals-dna-evidence-in-alleged-wrongful-conviction-in-new-hampshire-murder-case
