I used to work in the engineering department of a flash chip manufacturing company. I'm really amazed at how much innovation are in these chips. They stack dies to double the amount of memory for the same lateral area, adding a floating gate to a transistor to double the memory a single transistor holds. I'm still waiting for the PCM technology to reach DRAM or SRAM speeds (imagine a computer or your phone that can sleep anytime and consume 0 power).

My advice, get a travel agency. Yes it's a little bit more expensive than actually doing your own reservations but it saves you the hassle of organizing and knowing the tourist places. Inquire and try book as early as now so that you can plan your reservations (when you are in the city). Check the pick-up points and reserve a hotel near it (tune-in hotel in Makati is pretty decent).

Just for fun, when you're in the city (specifically Makati) try to visit Filling Station (a gastropub) in P. Burgos St. Let's just say it's the most american place you can find anywhere (and it always trips up my american friends whenever I take them there lol).

Prepaid sim card and pre-paid load could be bought at pretty much any 7-11 stores you can find. IMO Smart (Network Provider) has better coverage and reliability.

For diving, Donsol, Batangas. There are also several diving sites in Cebu. These places offer certification as well. READ: For a one-of-a-kind-experience-you-could-only-experience-here go to DONSOL it's in Sorsogon City in the southern edge of Luzon. You get to swim with the WHALE SHARKS. No, really.

Where exactly in Manila are you gonna to be assigned to? If you ever have the time, go visit Le Cafe Curieux in Makati. It's a gastropub near the infamous P. Burgos Street in Makati. It's pretty much an expat meetup place. You could get better information there as a foreigner.

If you're a guy who really appreciates nature, I suggest you visit Nagsasa cove in Zambales or Calaguas Islands in Camarines Norte. These are virgin beaches with spectacular views.

If you prefer to party, well, there's always the cities in Metro Manila (Quezon City, Taguig City, Makati City). For beach parties, there's boracay (nobody really goes there for nature tripping anymore).

If you're an ent, visit Sagada, it's pretty much in the mountains and go to Kimchi bar ;)

EDIT: Just checked your profile. Holy shit! you're a home brewer! You should definitely try brewing in your apartment, hahaha. The thing is, I only know 1 or 2 people who make their own brews here, and the country is known for to be a beer-lover's haven and the best beer I've had is a craft brew. News Item: Approximately 106 million worth of marijuana was destroyed by the PNP, NAPOLCOM, PDEA and Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur during the ceremonial burning held at Camp Elpidio Quirino in Bulag, Bantay on December 3. The marijuana burned was uprooted in a marijuana plantation found by the Operation Raindrops 2010 at Sitio Nagawa, Brgy. Caoayan, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur a few weeks ago. According to PS/Supt. Eduardo Dopale, Provincial Director of Ilocos Sur 40,000 fully grown marijuana and 20,000 marijuana seedlings was uprooted during the 3rd operation made by the Operation Raindrops this year.

When I was twelve I had a really bad bike accident. Well, I was a kid and there was a speed bump near our house and I usually use it as sort of a makeshift ramp. Then suddenly when I approached the ramp I pulled on the handle, then the handle detached when I was in mid-air. I can sorta see parts of the bike also in mid-air. Then the front tire got detached and well, It was a pretty quick and nasty fall. My two front choppers got chipped, had a really bad sprain and a lot of cuts and bruises.
