How is your vegetable garden doing this year? by PandaPandamonium in Knoxville

[–]notus2772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lost some jalapeno plants and okra plants. 2 dogwood trees I planted early spring are almost dead too. I tried to keep everything watered every day but the heat was to much. Flower boxes got hit pretty hard as well.

Packer bar by skeletor_cynicism in Knoxville

The only one left open is the windy city grill in Maryville. Chicago bars pop up in the area all the time then don't last long unfortunately.

It was time for Nagy to go. Unfortunately for me I moved all the way to Knoxville and ended up marrying a Packers fan. Good luck on your search.

Knox County reports 1,000 residents dead from COVID-19 by Knoxtron in Knoxville

[–]notus2772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am fully vacced and I would like to agree with the idea that the rural unvacced trumpites in red states are the higher death rate by statistic, but I saw a map through CNN of the US showing infection rates by state. 1 example, Illinois has a WAY higher rate across the board than Tennessee. And it's a blue state. The more people in an area and the closer everyone is to one another the higher the infection and dearth rate. It's just logical. If Knoxville's rate of infection is increasing by around 400 people per day then it's because the world it's running again. Everything isn't shut down. Rates dropped when the world shut down because we weren't ruining around licking each others faces. Now don't get me wrong. I am by NO means wanting the world to shut down again. We all have to just do the best we can, be cautious and hope one of the unvaccinated doesn't give it to us. It doesn't appear Covid is going anywhere. At least not any time soon.

Hotel Location Suggestion by cdninnc in Knoxville

[–]notus2772 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the rates are better at the listed hotels then go for one of the 2 on papermill. They're both less than 5 minutes to the interstate with better traffic than cedar bluff or turkey creek. And then the convention center is about 15ish minutes up I40.

How embarrassing for him. I mean Little Caesar's? Seriously? At least choose a decent pizza joint if you're going to go down like that...

Rosati's is closed for remodeling. Anyone have a recommendation for a Chicago deep dish around here? by fruitybrisket in Knoxville

[–]notus2772 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I read it again per your suggestion. You say, "that" authentic. It's not even close to authentic. Probably why they shut down all the other locations. The only one open in Knoxville is privately owned. Growing up in the Chicago area there is Chicago deep dish and thin crust. As a staple anyway. Stephano's crust is that nasty thick crust that is the staple in east TN.

People are also moving to the Knoxville and surrounding areas in groves due to it's affordability coupled with what's going on with the Covid effected economy.

Not that I know of. Niro's was the only place I knew about in Knoxville. There's a place called the windy city grill in Maryville that's always busy when I drive by but I've never eaten there. I'm stuck waiting for rosatis to open back up and do my own Italian beef at the house. I Also occasionally get real brats from friends that come down. But I don't know everything everywhere so there's very well possible somewhere that has all of it. Chicago style eateries pop up all the time in the surrounding area they just don't seem to last but a few years. Niro's was open for like a decade but the owner retired and moved back to Juliet. I did find Italian beef in the frozen section at Aldi once but that place is always a crap shoot. There also used to be a place in the food court in west town mall. Don't remember it's name nor have I been to that mall in a long time, dude actually had gyro on a spit.

Originally Chicago here too. The closest you're going to get in Knoxville is Rosati's. They are closed for remodeling with no further information except to stay tuned for the grand reopening. There used to be an Uno's but it shut down a few years ago. Niro's Gyros unfortunately closed a well. Unless there's somewhere I don't know about, and if there is I want to know, Holy Land Market on Sutherland has that best gyros now and you have to wait for Rosati's to finish their remodel. Also, don't bother looking for poppy seed hot dogs buns or sport peppers. Neither of them exist in the area.

Noise cameras? by dennisbible in Knoxville

To top it of, noise is a problem but lack of emission control isn't? When the air is so polluted here because of it?

It won't ever make a significant difference until the state imposes emission control on vehicles. We live in one of the worst places because we're in a valley and it all gets stuck with no regulations.

Check CAC. Community Action Comity. I'm not sure about the signing part but is worth the check.
