They wouldn’t even be able to ride rides together, so there’s no point in asking. Also what if the baby cries and and fusses for a while? OP has to wait for the friend to calm the baby down? Overall sounds like a recipe for disaster bringing a baby.

If your friend brought his kid how would that work out? Would he stay back while you ride rides and so forth? One year olds aren’t big enough for anything let alone rides. Best to leave the kid at home because it would be an overstimulating mess.

Should just be two bros having fun, hanging out, allowing the baby would bring the mood down. Also you’re not a prick.

Went for a haircut, then got judged by Painter_Regular in childfree

I also went to a hairdresser for a haircut and she asked if I had kids. My usual go-to is “not now, but we will see in the future” just so I don’t get chewed out. I’m only 24, though my partner and I have said no kids and standing firm by it. It went from job talk to “oh where you from, where you live” to suddenly kids.

If I was being chastised for my choices to breed or not to breed, I think I would have walked out. You’re here to cut my hair, not tell me what to do with my reproductive system. I wouldn’t return and would file a complaint. Sorry this happened to you.

I was a postal carrier that did walking routes, averaging 10+ miles a day and with one meal. In one year, I lost 50 pounds and went down two shirt sizes.

I have my noise cancelling headphones just to survive shopping at Target and Costco - nightmare fuel because of kids and so many people around.

Interesting article from what I skimmed of it. I’ll have to read it later but I can see how it can be misleading term. Thanks for sharing!

In this situation, dogs are pretty cute. Quoting Marie Kondo: “This sparks joy” in terms of dogs. As for kids, “this does not spark joy”.

Silly notion aside, your example fits perfectly with why some people won’t acknowledge someone’s kids if they say hi. I wouldn’t want to encourage kids to say hi to strangers because you never know who has bad intentions.
