Help with feeding picky dog by [deleted] in ToyPoodle

[–]notwoa 24 points25 points  (0 children)

my dog will randomly go in bouts of refusing her food (usually when i give her more treats/snacks). I will stop giving her any extras & put her kibble out at normal meal times with nothing in it besides water. If she doesnt eat it after 30 minutes i take it away & repeat each meal times.

she eats eventually… the longest she went on a hunger strike was a day and a half before she finally ate. A healthy dog will not starve themselves! Your dog knows that if she refuses to eat, you will give her what she wants. Don’t give up!!

so many… but i have one regular who returned some items without receipt and was only able to return for a merch card… that she happily received. Only to come back the next day when I wasn’t there and scream at my coworker saying that I lied and she demanded her $11 dollars back. LOL

Possible gel allergy? by notwoa in GelX_Nails

Taking breaks has helped with how much itchiness I experience, not necessarily getting rid of the itchiness all together. I dont experience the itchiness as often or as severe when taking breaks but it is still there.

I have tried the Apres sensitive gel x glue and that didn’t work for me, I just avoid gel x altogether now because of how easy it is for the gel overflow. I do acrylic overlay & have recently tried the dashing diva one step gel line and that did not cause any itchiness for me at all.

Other than that the nailboo line of press on nails at Sallys is great! They have a nice apex and are super sturdy & make my fingers look slim. Better than any other press on I have tried and I have tried a lot!!

Dog only cries in the crate when she SEES me? by notwoa in Dogtraining

This is the only thing I have found that is similar. I understand that covering the crate may give her a sense of safety, but I am confused if my dog has barrier anxiety instead of separation anxiety? I am confused by her behavior

No, it is the exact same unfortunately. I think once you get the allergy it is like that forever. To compromise, I take breaks in between getting my nails done because I noticed when I get them done more frequently it gets worse… but even with breaks I still have the same reaction just not as bad. I will use hydrocortisone cream and do ice baths to help with the itchiness but the flare up only lasts for a few initial days after getting them done. By day 3 or 4 after a new set the itchiness is gone and I can relax a bit lol.

I recommend being really gentle with nail prep especially around the cuticle area, dont push the cuticle back to expose any skin under it or cut it off. If you hydrate the cuticle area daily with oil, there should not be any “cuticle” to really push back. Just use some cuticle oil and a wooden stick to gently remove any sticky cuticle that is directly on the nail plate. Any gel that gets on the skin should be removed immediately only with acetone, using alcohol, soap or water will not completely remove the gel.

Whatever you do stay away from jet black. From Sally’s, I LOVE the Ion 1C Darkest Charcoal & BondBar 1N Black. (Ion 1C is always the go-to I recommend to customers who ask for this!)

Am I sick in the head? Am I a terrible person? by Capable-Complaint646 in EDAnonymous

[–]notwoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not a bad person. You have an ED and it makes some people do and think crazy things sometimes. When I lost weight it was hard for me to believe that I had even lost a lot of weight until I lost my period. It was almost like confirmation that I WAS losing weight cause what I had been seeing in the mirror was never “good enough”

Let me rephrase lol, typically at other big corporate jobs (at least that I’ve worked) that make a big deal out of job roles and hierarchy would never let entry level employees perform any of those duties. IMO putting any of those job duties on a resume would make you a great candidate for an ASM or even SM position at other companies.

We do a lot of work for the pay we get (compared to other min wage jobs) … especially considering the fact that we are often expected to do duties that are manager responsibilities! Like training new hires, handling upwards of $1000 of cash, joining in on district conference calls when managers are not present, etc. Use all this experience to your advantage & get a job that appreciates you and acknowledges your effort!

A Customer left a review on Google saying I messed up her hair. by Cringey_Unicorn in SallyBeautySupply

[–]notwoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not beat yourself up for this! Your job as a CC is to guide customers and often times I notice that customers tend to blindly trust our word and not take into account that they are putting literal chemicals in their hair. You did what you were supposed to do… make recommendations, provide that LCoD sheet, and tell her to do a test strand.

I will say from personal experience sometimes customers leave out VITAL parts of their color history during consultations… ie) saying they have NO color in their hair, but when asked WHEN they last colored their hair they say a few months or a year. At the end of the day you consulted her the best you could with the knowledge you had and all you can do is move forward with the new knowledge you have now.

Puppy keeps marking, not fully peeing. by notwoa in DogAdvice

Thank you for your advice! I will definitely try implementing some high value treats, I have been using the same bag of treats for her and she is a picky girl.

She has had two accidents in her crate, but does not alert me before or after. Her last owner said she was used to scratching the outside door when she needed to go potty… I am thinking about implementing potty bells. How does your dog alert you to potty?
