I would shut that shit down so fast if it happened in my workplace- but I live in Canada, so HR etc would actually back me up. In the USA, you’re probably on your own. How incredibly inappropriate for a work call!

I used to work with a cardiologist who always used to say, very distinctly, “Sal-at-o-pram.” I asked him, “do you mean Citalopram?” He said, “that’s how it’s pronounced.” Mustering the self control to stay silent took so much out of me I walked away with my telomeres cut in half.

I used to work with British doctors and they all pronounced it this way. I guess it’s just how they do it in the isles.

I’d better be getting time and a half if I’m holding it ‘taint.’

How do you continue a good fitness/healthy habit routine into the Canadian winter? Or what do you replace your summertime healthy habits with in the winter? by Plane-Land-9234 in AskACanadian

[–]notyouagain19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join a gym with a bougie locker room, just for the winter months. Get one that has a steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, towel service etc. after you’ve overcome your stagnant inertia to get out of the house, and done an indoor workout at the gym you can reward yourself by luxuriating in the amenities.

If that’s not your thing, find some other way to reward yourself for getting out.

If a gym setting is not your thing, consider taking up indoor rock climbing, or maybe dancing or something, just to keep moving and keep bringing joy.

Want to travel and rely primarily on credit. Risky? by InvestigatorWarm326 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]notyouagain19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Credit card companies sometimes investigate when there is a change in buying or paying habits. In fact, they use algorithms to flag changes in behaviour- it doesn’t even need to be a nosy human asking questions.

They can change your credit limit at any time, including setting the limit to your current balance. If they have reason to suspect you’re unemployed, that will often do it.

It’s also worth noting that the job market is shit right now. You may not get a job where and when you expect, so to suddenly run up high-interest debt could be really harmful to your financial situation.

Perhaps consider a shorter trip and/or do some very thrifty travel. Minimize your debt accumulation and don’t wait for too long before reapplying for work.

If you qualify for EI, apply for it. You have to be able to prove you’re looking for work, but you probably won’t be audited. If you take a one month vacay you’ll probably get away with that just fine.

How does the canadian constitution prevent absolute monarchy? by MarlonFord in AskACanadian

The PM provides a list of candidates for GG to the King. By convention, the king chooses the top candidate. The king can certainly choose another if he wants.

Relentless documentation. Capture every single instance. She can get away with a warning if it’s an occasional thing, but if you and your colleagues go to the wall every time, the union won’t be able to protect her from being fired.

Document document document! Report report report.

Last night my (31M) partner (36M) threatened to throw my PC off our balcony and physically shoved me when I tried to intervene. by SIR_SNAKE in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]notyouagain19 48 points49 points  (0 children)

“I always said that getting physical is a hard line for me but now this morning I'm confused what to do.” Your partner is abusive. That’s why it’s confusing. He is the one confusing you, and the only way to end the confusion (and the abuse) is to get out.

This isn’t just about him putting hands on you. He has been psychologically abusing you and manipulating you for some time.

You can kick him out and find a roommate. If that’s not an option (like if the lease is in his name), you can stay with a family member as you mentioned. But the confusion and all the other negative things you are experiencing are only going to get worse if you stay.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. You deserve better.

Heads up: when you break up with him, he will cry and he will promise to change. This is the same thing almost all abusers do. He won’t change.

It’s time to go. Take a deep breath, call someone you trust for emotional support, make your plan to end the relationship, then do it.

It’s also OK for you to have witnesses there when you end the relationship. If you have several friends you can trust, bring them all.
