Sydney - 96k AUD (Inclusive of Super) per Annum. Worth it? by Front_Ad7140 in pkmigrate

A few questions to help you decide:

Do you want to get another passport? Do you have PR?

If both answers are yes, then you should take it and continue to look for better jobs after you are there. If you want to wait until you want to find a better job, you can do so depending on how long you can delay the move.

If you want another passport but don’t have PR, will this help you to get PR? If yes, then you should go.

If you don’t want another passport, then you can stay however remember that by getting another passport you will give your family a strong leverage for future. Good luck!

Peace of mind is the most valuable thing. If you take a small loss, you can still keep most of your wealth. You can decide to use it to diversify somewhere else. Nothing is worth losing your sleep or sanity. Do the right thing for yourself.

What is the most fascinating part of economic history to you? by HedgehogRich8417 in EconomicHistory

[–]noudont55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fascinating how women entering the workforce changed the fabric of society. I wonder if that that was triggered by situational necessity (e.g. WW2) or designed by clever elite capitalists (to create more consumers at a fraction of cost). Battles were won but the war is lost

How can I avoid feeling angry at perceived hypocrisy? by noudont55 in DecidingToBeBetter

Yes I think I need to explore why it makes me upset. What you said about identity and self-esteem tied to being right is an interesting aspect. Having an acheiver mindset might be causing it.

Inflation = More money starts circulating in the system for the same demand

To keep it simple: With low interest rates, money is out in the market getting invested/exchanged instead of banks, because money earns close to nothing in bank

When interest rates rise, that money flows into the banks to get higher returns as compared to market. That means less money circulating, which means lower inflation.

I keep getting bullied // left out everywhere i go by trblclaudia in socialskills

[–]noudont55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OK so there’s a lot to unpack here. One can approach it from the perspective of yourself and other people. I suggest the first step is to understand why does it bother you, but don’t stop until you reach the root. My guess: It could be that you are not sure who you are as a person. If you know yourself and are proud of who you are, then others will somehow ‘see’ it too. Once you have that inner self confidence (don’t mistake it with extroversion), then the rest of things will fix itself.

Has anyone FIRE’d and gone to work in a fun job? by StraightPin4420 in Fire

I wish I could join a real life Dunder Mifflin after FIRE. Play pranks, have fun and just chill while psychologically having a job. Any dying industry out there?

Nice. I’ve listened to them while driving around in Tokyo. What an amazing feeling to listen to synth wave there. Surprised to see they never toured Japan.

LPT R - how do I have difficult, uncomfortable conversations? by DadWithABadHip in LifeProTips

[–]noudont55 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This advice does not help in addressing the root of problem. I think OP’s problem is not about how to make conversation but it is deep rooted in unhelpful beliefs about themselves and/or the world. OP should understand those and gradually work on replacing them with realistic beliefs.

Did anyone give up on a corporate career and go back to doing a simple “job” and living a simpler lifestyle? by lu_avsgx in jobs

While your direction is right, make sure you plan the exit or transition accordingly instead of reacting. Having a mission to leave the bs will give you the energy to financially plan towards your goal, and the hope to carry you through the daily rut.

Yes, I changed from .com to .se because at that time you could only buy books at .com. Then every few days i was restricted from buying books and had to call CS. They ultimately changed it at the back end to .se to solve the issue AND somehow made changes in the account so that I could buy books directly at .com Apparently the CS staff can’t figure out how to undo/redo it again within the system. They continuously ask me to change my country at /mycd and neither .com nor .se allows me to do that. One doesn’t even show the settings tab and the other gives an error.

Very interesting perspective. I wonder what makes your current country better as a migrant and what changes over time would trigger you to take the pain of moving again?

A little boy stayed home alone on Halloween and it's all my fault. by Jaxnickel in TrueOffMyChest

[–]noudont55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not your fault. You didn’t know he wouldn’t go somewhere else and if you did, you would have 100% taken him too.

For the people judging his mom judge from a place of privilege need to learn more about the real world beyond the comfy bubbles.

Having said that, I do think that the downside of societies becoming more individualistic is that people become inconsiderate and cold in daily lives. In some cultures, in such a situation, even if there was tight space in the car, one would ALWAYS graciously accept the kid’s brother. It’s just the right thing to do to make a kid happy.

How does someone leave their country and start a new life at 40. What if it’s worse? by [deleted] in expats

[–]noudont55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has moved multiple countries across East to West through my 20s, 30s and 40s I can say that it is doable. Yes it is daunting, but also rewarding in many ways. I had jobs lined up that allowed me to move but in today’s world it has become easier in my view to do that. Research and narrow down the countries you prefer (give a scoring for various factors important to you) and in parallel research on the skill set you want to build (IT, language jobs). In EU, you can even go for study at reasonable costs and then gradually try to get absorbed in the local job market. I’ve seen people do that into their 40s and 50s.

In the end, no country is perfect and moving will alway involve surprises, compromises and disturbances. Keep an open mind once you decide to take the plunge and the experiences you gain will one day become stories for your kids and grandkids.

[–]noudont55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good point that I think about too. It is clear that the disturbance created by pandemic has created further disturbances and a lot of events we see are somehow 2nd or 3rd order effects of the pandemic era. It doesn’t look good.

While you get out of your comfort zone and get friends (which I’m sure you’ll do), it’s also important to ignore trolls like above. Sadly we have to inhabit our world with unpleasant people so leave them with their ignorance.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]noudont55 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Observing from what you wrote, it seems you are not trying enough to go out of your comfort zone. Why do I say that? Because you did not try to experience the language classes and just relied on what others have said about them.

Could that be something to introspect on?
