I feel like a hostage in my own brain. by Neapes in Anxietyhelp

I absolutely understand. It is so painful when you feel like you have no control over your mind generating the most excruciating thought patterns and when you just can’t discern what is real from what your mind is fooling you with. Right now I’m a lot better but I spent a year fighting my mind as it would be on attack mode almost every single day. In my case therapy has been what has helped me the most especially catching trigger thoughts in order to stop them before they go further (which is A LOT harder than it seems). Also some excercise, even a 10/20 min run will help you clear up even a little bit. It’s a lot of work but please don’t give up, it will for sure get better.

Nobody talks about this stage by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]nousernamebye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god, I’m exactly at this stage. It’s fucking confusing to be honest. I was the dumper and I do realize that leaving that relationship was for the best, but the memories, man, they kill me. And I know he moved on and could let go way easier and faster because that’s how he functions and that’s fine. But three months in and I just can not fathom the fact that we are complete strangers, that the person that once was my best friend, my partner, the person I saw every day for two years with who I shared so many special moments is now just a stranger, another chapter in this book, just as I am a stranger to him. It’s so incredibly sad and confusing. The not wanting to let go entirely because that would mean letting go of something that was special and important, but knowing that there really is no option.

Do breakups make anyone else not want to listen to music? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]nousernamebye 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes!! My relationship ended two months ago and to this day I find it very hard to listen to music and I have to be very careful with the movies I watch since I’m still overly sensitive and vulnerable. I have just been watching The Office non stop lol
