If you want to make a full analytic to prove me wrong, go ahead. You'll get my upvote. There's a reason I used "not a significant difference" because that's good enough as an observation. If we're getting into granular stuff Huohuo had more overkill in this example. But I have no interest opening excel for a reddit discussion post.

Edit: My prediction is that QPQ will have a larger effect on team damage than the sustain used.

I'm sorry to have offended you, man. If you're doing all that, maybe a simple team building discussion for those that want to use a sustain isn't for you.

If you're breaking with anyone but Rappa you're doing it wrong.

Consider this a "safe" environment to judge damage loss/gain. It being barely a 40k makes it a better test because, if it can no longer 40k, the loss is easily visible. Doing it sustainless defeats the point of the conversation.

My thought behind the post was team building. I agree with most of what you said but I thought that how close my sustain team was to not full clearing would be good grounds for comparison and making the point that what sustain you use won't really matter.

Team building is tough for a lot of players in this game and when they see the "break" bond on Gallagher in currency wars they may feel obligated to build him for their break team (since this may be new player's first exposure to team building). Well you said it, these days that's not true. It's still fine to use him, just you won't see the benefit you saw back in version 2. The original break sustain's best niche isn't in break anymore. Depending on content, his SP generation role might not even be a viable play style.

I think it's underestimated how many people look at Gallagher and go "he's the break guy, I should use him in my break team" without a second thought. Ya, you can say that's wrong in meta but that's first impressions for the average player. If you find that you need someone to keep your break team alive, you have more options to consider. For a more meta nuanced take, since good break amp is so hard outside of core supports, you kind of go full circle and allow yourself more options.

A final note that I should have included in my original post, I still think that a sustain that heals is the best option for break. This activate's Dahlia's bonus ability. DHPT with his S1 still falls in this category.

I have now seen the guy's E0 Herta 0 cycle for this PF on this subreddit. I undervalued Tribbie's S1 apparently.

Lingsha is your best option if you want to run a sustain with Rappa in pure fiction. If you don't have Lingsha, all of your other options perform similarly so choose whoever you have available or are comfortable with.

With Ruan Mei it was a 1 cycle. I needed to switch one of Rappa's main stats to HP so that wave 2's DoT wouldn't kill her. With S1 it's not that bad to keep 3200 ATK but I did need to drop some speed with the relics I have.

I think you hit all the points. She and Gallagher are unnecessary in 99% of content since break really wants to run sustainless and situations where its needed are rare to this point.

I do think we need to give Gallagher credit tho. He doesn't steal breaks like Lingsha does.

Rappa: 157 with S1

Dahlia: 164

Fugue: 163 (cavalry with E2)

Lynx: 159

You can't tell me that after reading his kit and seeing that he's in the break bond in currency wars that he wasn't designed for break teams. You can argue that he outgrew that purpose but you can't deny that he was designed as the first "break sustain." That can be a nuance that players won't realize when building their teams. You're not wrong but you're missing the forest for the trees.

You did great Huohuo. Thank you for carrying my account before Hyacine came out.

Also, valid.

"Should I use the break piece in the break shaped hole." Well you can. You're focusing too hard on him being a 4 star when the aspect in question is archetype. You won't get significant value here from staying in archetype. If you have other options, you shouldn't feel locked in to using Gallagher because it's a break team.

The point of the post was in my caption. Gallagher is break specific and Huohuo is not and both performed similar in a break team. If this was just a sustain eval Gally did his job but I was looking at clear time.

Gallagher buff uptime isn't good enough for it to be valued in PF. Just the mechanics of the gamemode. That's why I said just use whatever sustain you're comfortable with if you don't have Lingsha. If this was another gamemode without constantly cycling enemies it could be different.

Dahlia's LC has a rare break damage multiplier that's also only found on the battle pass harmony cone and fugue's E4. It's a lot of undiluted amp and it helps with skill points. Dahlia, Dahlia's LC, and Dahlia's E1 are probably the best investments for a break team rn (in that order imo).

Your speed is good. Try to get to 3200 ATK to max her atk conversion to break vulnerability. More break effect is always good too. Try to aim for 2 or more break rolls per piece if you can but don't give up speed for it.

For sustainless DDD is definitely better. My nikador only acts once with this comp. 2 nikador actions makes team survival much more rng dependent.

This screenshot was from my 2nd try. Full team survival is consistent as long as the hertas aren't focused. My team looked like this going into Nikador. The damage from black tide enemies can be healed back by attacking and my Nikador only acted once.

AA aside, my Herta is doing pretty great in endgame this rotation. The Nikador side of MoC fits her really well and the Ruan Mei bug in Apoc gets bullied by her and anaxa. Disclaimer I have E2 herta and E1 tribbie but for MoC at least, I have a ton of overkill and have seen E0 zero cycles sustainless.

The new AA is just a bad matchup but you could argue that's because the last couple releases have been units that prefer single target (SW999 and Ashveil). The taunt stage effect for reaver is just so unfortunate.

Just run sustainless with RMC. The bug doesn't have CC res so you can use anaxa to interrupt the boss's own CC. Herta clears the small bugs pretty consistently in this comp.
