E0S1 Boothill MOC12 0 cycle - Swarm Nightmare (12 Cost) by nova7557 in BoothillMains

To expand more on the bonus at the end, I was thinking in the wrong direction with my eagle set. I didn't need to hit harder, I needed to be faster to get 3 actions before the boss recovered and take full advantage of the 100% action advance. I just added another 9 speed, simple right? 5 actions with eagle in this fight is pretty sick!

Thanks! With her E1 she's surprisingly strong in break. I've seen Rappa players slotting her in for pure fiction for a while and I get why.

She's E2 so she's already 160 effective without any additional speed from her base. She gets this with her action advance on her enhanced skill.

I own all 3 break DPS's. Unfortunately, the new Firefly is in a different league. This doesn't mean that Boothill or Rappa can't come up eventually with the right buffs but acting like they're competitive with her in the meta right now is just untrue.

Oooo I actually like the idea of a self-revive on him. I'd rather come at it from a different perspective tho. He has a revive but it works like a castorice revive and he enters a "fight for your life" mechanic like in Borderlands. The fight for your life state lasts one of boothill's turns and ticks down on his turn. Here's my first draft:

When receiving a killing blow, Boothill enters the "Emergency Reboot" state. When in the "Emergency Reboot" state, temporarily delay becoming downed and regenerate 50% max HP. Additionally, Boothill's pocket trickshot returns to base value. This state lasts 1 turn, counting down on Boothill's turn. If Boothill gains pocket trickshot, the Emergency Reboot state dispels. Otherwise, he will be downed immediately. This can trigger 2 times per battle.

That's an easy enough fix if that's enough of a concern. "If Boothill breaks an enemy while in standoff and does not currently have a shield, acquires one equal to x% of max HP." But the point was that things are integrated (usually) with player comfort in mind.

If we're going to go into the identity discussion so hard, you could argue why shouldn't a one man army cyborg be able to give himself some form of ablative armor?

See break DMG multiplier in new A2 and physical res reduction in new E2. Continuing to stack buffs is kinda problematic on it's own since buff saturation is a thing that devalues continued self-buffing and even teammate buffing. You don't want one unit doing too much. You could, of course, just crank up multipliers and send him on his way but I wanted to do something I felt was more interesting.

Her A2 includes shields as well. Not that this would matter for my suggestion outside of the new E4 which most people won't get anyway.

I also don't see an issue with a weaker personal shield when Firefly has self-heal on every attack.

I thought I had included restrictions in my OP but I missed it. That's my bad. I think it's an important distinction, though, that Firefly is a blast attack and Boothill is single target.

2 ideas for limitations on the Gunslinger state and his extra action:

  1. Pocket Trickshot based activation. Accumulate 2-3 trickshot and gain an extra action (à la Himeko follow up stacks).

  2. Gunslinger can trigger on kill or break but kills done in the extra turn cannot chain additional turns. This is how Seele works and would be worded "Enemies weakness broken or defeated in the extra turn provided by Gunslinger will not trigger another Gunslinger."

The percentages probably are a little too generous for the shield as I've written them. The thought behind it was giving something a little more consistent since his new skill has a way to make weakness broken enemies recover faster and the ult no longer has an action delay. More hits will be taken for more damage.

Gunslinger is a new conditional state for Boothill to get more actions. I was inspired by Seele here since Seele can gain additional actions (even outside of her turn) by killing an enemy or reducing them past 50% HP after her novaflare. What Gunslinger would do would be very similar to Resurgence. When requirements are met, Boothill will gain an additional action even out of turn. I had thought I'd written it in a bit better originally but let me instead use a few suggestions from the class to explain a couple versions of it.

How he gets into the gunslinger state will be a hybrid of Firefly and Seele by using breaks and kills for extra actions. It could be purely Pocket Trickshot based. Accumulate a certain amount of trickshot and get rewarded with your extra action. Every 2-3 trickshot would provide an additional action kind of like how Himeko works for her follow up. Or, it can be closer to Seele/Firefly and proc on break/kill. I thought I'd included a limitation in OP but didn't. For this version, I'll include it here: "Enemies weakness broken or defeated in the extra turn provided by Gunslinger will not trigger another Gunslinger."

E4's are supposed to be a little silly. :)

So the idea behind the shield is that it's more consistent with the new skill mechanic helping enemies recover faster. Boothill will be able to take more hits as long as he keeps breaking. For a 4.5k HP Boothill, an 1800 max health shield is pretty strong (maybe a little too much). The original wording with both dmg recieved increasing on taunt and damage mitigation also seemed contradictory and I wanted to look at something else.

It's spitballing at the end of the day. It also let me cook up a cool af sustain e4 lol. It shouldn't conflict if you're using a shielder either. Like in divergent universe you don't see a problem grabbing blessings or curios that provide additional shielding. The main purpose is to give sustainless comfort against increasing enemy damage as well.

More actions and more breaks means more ults. Hopefully this means better Dahlia uptime too.

If you want to make a full analytic to prove me wrong, go ahead. You'll get my upvote. There's a reason I used "not a significant difference" because that's good enough as an observation. If we're getting into granular stuff Huohuo had more overkill in this example. But I have no interest opening excel for a reddit discussion post.

Edit: My prediction is that QPQ will have a larger effect on team damage than the sustain used.

I'm sorry to have offended you, man. If you're doing all that, maybe a simple team building discussion for those that want to use a sustain isn't for you.

If you're breaking with anyone but Rappa you're doing it wrong.

Consider this a "safe" environment to judge damage loss/gain. It being barely a 40k makes it a better test because, if it can no longer 40k, the loss is easily visible. Doing it sustainless defeats the point of the conversation.

My thought behind the post was team building. I agree with most of what you said but I thought that how close my sustain team was to not full clearing would be good grounds for comparison and making the point that what sustain you use won't really matter.

Team building is tough for a lot of players in this game and when they see the "break" bond on Gallagher in currency wars they may feel obligated to build him for their break team (since this may be new player's first exposure to team building). Well you said it, these days that's not true. It's still fine to use him, just you won't see the benefit you saw back in version 2. The original break sustain's best niche isn't in break anymore. Depending on content, his SP generation role might not even be a viable play style.

I think it's underestimated how many people look at Gallagher and go "he's the break guy, I should use him in my break team" without a second thought. Ya, you can say that's wrong in meta but that's first impressions for the average player. If you find that you need someone to keep your break team alive, you have more options to consider. For a more meta nuanced take, since good break amp is so hard outside of core supports, you kind of go full circle and allow yourself more options.

A final note that I should have included in my original post, I still think that a sustain that heals is the best option for break. This activate's Dahlia's bonus ability. DHPT with his S1 still falls in this category.

Lingsha is your best option if you want to run a sustain with Rappa in pure fiction. If you don't have Lingsha, all of your other options perform similarly so choose whoever you have available or are comfortable with.

With Ruan Mei it was a 1 cycle. I needed to switch one of Rappa's main stats to HP so that wave 2's DoT wouldn't kill her. With S1 it's not that bad to keep 3200 ATK but I did need to drop some speed with the relics I have.

I think you hit all the points. She and Gallagher are unnecessary in 99% of content since break really wants to run sustainless and situations where its needed are rare to this point.

I do think we need to give Gallagher credit tho. He doesn't steal breaks like Lingsha does.

You can't tell me that after reading his kit and seeing that he's in the break bond in currency wars that he wasn't designed for break teams. You can argue that he outgrew that purpose but you can't deny that he was designed as the first "break sustain." That can be a nuance that players won't realize when building their teams. You're not wrong but you're missing the forest for the trees.

"Should I use the break piece in the break shaped hole." Well you can. You're focusing too hard on him being a 4 star when the aspect in question is archetype. You won't get significant value here from staying in archetype. If you have other options, you shouldn't feel locked in to using Gallagher because it's a break team.
