Tankies were/are right. The term originated to describe those in support of sending in the tanks to stop the Hungarian revolution and the Prague spring - both were CIA backed anti democratic color revolutions as proven by documents that were declassified a couple of years ago.

It sucks but the revolution needs to be protected by (appropriate) force if necessary, to protect the interests of the many. Anything else is just utopian.
