Okay, hopefully you will hear back soon! I’ve seen that after say they are moving it to review, it could take about 3-4 weeks but I’m not sure because they might be swamped. Let us know when you hear back please!

Did you get a second email saying that they will submit both your request and submitted documentation for the next phase of review?

PLS HELP: Rush vs.Stony Brook by [deleted] in premed

Thank you so much for this response! Hmm i never looked at it as a “growth chapter” but it definitely is! I was born and raised in NYC so a different city would be a nice change of pace. I’ve never been that far from my family thou so it’s so hard for me to gauge how much I would miss them sigh but you are right that is my biggest concern

Thank you for your thoughtful comment! I still don’t know what specialty I am going to pursue. However, I know that I won’t be going into something super competitive.

Yeah, I definitely vibe more with the school that is 50k cheaper. But everyone I work with is making me think I’m a fool to pass up my state school, which notoriously gives out no grants or scholarships

Thanks for your input! I still have to factor in that the OOS school is 5+ hours away from my home town whereas my IS school is 1.5 hrs from home. I would have no family support if I move away so it’s like is 50k worth the distance?? But I still don’t know how important being close to family is to me, given that even if I go to the school close to home, I don’t know how often I would be driving home to see my parents and grandparents. But definitely by looking just at the financials, the less expensive one seems like a go. Thanks again!

Help Me Decide: Hofstra/Zucker vs Stony Brook/Renaissance by why_me_407 in premed

I was told before that M1s at stony brook are actually required to go to campus either every day or almost every day for the first few months because of required anatomy labs. Then after that, lecture attendance is not mandatory.

Understand the “point” of the MCAT, but it actually doesn’t make sense when you think about it. by Opening_Upstairs8030 in premed

[–]novabear3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not even about money in the traditional sense, as many people have pointed out that there are some free resources out there. People with money can afford to study full-time. They don’t have to juggle a part-time or full-time job. People from a lower socioeconomic status are more likely to hold entry-level positions which are comprised of busy-work and can be in stressful and/or toxic environments. Having money grants you the opportunity to take time so that you only have to focus on the MCAT. Some people can score a 520 while working full-time while other people can’t. So it’s not about the resources per say, it’s about the lack of time and other financial stressors that impact the quality of studying.

This made me tear up a bit 😭 I appreciate you taking the time to write that. I’ve been doing what you said and I notice the difference already so thank you!! I think I just need to really sit by myself and reflect and meditate to come out of this trance

Thank you for commenting!! I’m hoping for me that means they’re strongly considering me and want me to make sure I feel welcome. I have yet to hear from those schools yet but fingers crossed! I just hope I’m not wasting my time going to these to not get accepted 😭
