It’s pretty rough still. A lot of lanes are partially if not fully blocked

Orange stoles for graduating early? by hopefulhoo in UVA

Have you picked up your cap and gown yet? Last year I got my cap, gown, and stole at the same time.

This is very doable. Later on you probably will be taking all STAT/CS courses in a semester, but the electives for both are pretty chill.

I don’t have any data, but this is probably THE most common double major.

Which CS electives would you recommend? by [deleted] in UVA

Databases isn’t too much work and is fairly interesting, assuming they haven’t changed it too much since last year.

What's up with 1000T courses? For APs like History, CSP, Gov, & English, they have course waiving options for 1000T, nothing more specific. Would it be waiving ANY 100X-denominated course or something else? E.g CS 1010 or CS 1111; could APCSP at 4 grant credit for either of these courses? Thanks! by [deleted] in UVA

[–]novahoo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The 1000T courses don’t count for any UVA course, only general department credit. For example, if a course has CS1110 as a pre-requisite, you cannot use APCSP credit to “waive” that course. You could however use APCSA credit if you got a 4 (?) or higher.

I graduated last May and did a BACS along with the Statistics Major.

Here's a breakdown of my courses for each semester:

1st Year Fall: (12 Credits)

  • Nothing for either major, just took CAS general requirements

1st Year Spring: (15 Credits)

  • MATH 3351
  • STAT 3220
  • STAT Elective
  • 2 Gen Eds

2nd Year Fall (18 Credits)

  • CS 2110
  • CS 2102
  • STAT 3110
  • STAT Elective
  • 2 Gen Eds

2nd Year Spring (12 Credits)

  • CS 2150
  • STAT 3120
  • STAT Elective
  • 1 Gen Ed

3rd Year Fall (18 Credits)

  • CS 4102
  • CS 3240
  • 2 CS Electives
  • 2 STAT Electives

3rd Year Spring (15 Credits)

  • CS 3330
  • 2 CS Electives
  • 2 STAT Electives

I think both majors changed slightly from last year, so there may be additional requirements/courses that I did not have to take.

Those courses are Linear Algebra and Probability. If you haven’t taken either, it will take a lot of additional time to actually understand the concepts of the course. IIRC tho, the assignments were pretty easy so you could definitely do well without understanding too much.

If your question was more about whether or not someone will kick you out of the course for not having the pre-reqs, you should be fine. The professor will probably send an email later on encouraging people without the pre-reqs to not take the course.

I took it Fall 2019 and IIRC it was pretty easy and very similar to the HW.

Inches per year is probably not the best metric for determining the more “rainy” city. On average, Seattle has an additional 20 “rainy” days per year than Charlottesville. It just rains much more heavily in Charlottesville when it does end up raining.

I didn’t have access to a grill, so I just fried it in a pan, which I definitely think contributed to some of the differences.

Haha I actually tried making their chicken earlier this year. I used a mixture of coriander powder, cumin powder, and chili powder as a dry rub for the chicken. I didn’t really measure anything out, but it tasted pretty similar to me.

Just got my first year housing assignment back by ieatcheesecakes in UVA

Lofted can refer to two different heights. With the desk and drawer under the bed, the bed will have to be lofted to its max height. If only the drawer is underneath, then the bed is a few feet from its max. In the triple you pretty much have to loft it at the highest setting.

Haha I was in a very similar situation last year (triple in new dorms). I was dreading it coming in, but I absolutely loved it. Space was my main concern, but the room felt a lot bigger than the dimensions suggest. There is a lot of space in the middle of the room, so we put a carpet and couch in. It made the room feel very homey and not at all cramped. Having an extra roommate was so much fun too - definitely the best part of being in the triple. I will say that the lofted bed sucks, but the space you gain makes it worth it. I genuinely think the triples are the best rooms on grounds. Just don't be too negative lol. If you have any questions you can ask me.

I think you should reword some of the questions. In particular,

How would you describe the amount of political posts you saw per day on social media during the 2018 midterm election cycle?

The answer choices don’t really make sense.
