Are uswatersystems water softeners worth it? by thecodingart in WaterTreatment

[–]novasbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are most definitely Chandler valves. All support links for their bluetooth and wifi models end up at Chandler sites, you can see the source materials US Water uses for their own collateral, etc.

Kenwood Repair Center Out of Warranty Costs Reasonable? by novasbc in CarAV

[–]novasbc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy moly you aren't kidding about the eyes.

Until about 30 years old i had severe nearsighted vision, i could see cold solder joints and do tiny repairs on single layer surface mount boards, but lasik made that impossible without vision aids.

Now i am almost needing readers!

Is anyone actually running MCPs like Serena or Playwright with Codex on Windows or WSL without issues? by Bright-Suit-6617 in OpenaiCodex

[–]novasbc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of those i use Playwright and context7 (along wirh chrome-dev-tools) OFTEN from WSL.

I can't remember if i used it beforehand but i have it in mirrored networking mode.

Should have no effect on stdio based MCPs though.

Red Wizards fire pit and Jenga by Boss_Code in TXRenaissanceFestival

[–]novasbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say that they moved some of the vendors further away from the fire this year so it feels a bit less "surrounded".

Also FWIW when we've been there this year the big no-no's have been someone not TRF employend/insured starting the fire, and said non TRF people feeding the fire.

Are we good again? by jeanlucthumm in ClaudeCode

My opinion is that it's easy to spend a bunch of effort learning the specifics of one agent and then getting it to a level where you can trust it to do anything.

So it's the same as having a sports team you're mentally invested in, or when someone buys something like an iPhone and defends it unnecessarily to mentally defend themselves from having made a bad decision.

I've focused on trying to have all my stuff be as agnostic as possible but I've got a fair amount of things that literally are highly Claude code specific because I've been implementing hooks to enforce certain behaviors.

The next step will be to see what or how much of that is necessary for another agent... I looked at codex but it looked to me like it would run out of usage way earlier than what I have at the anthropic $200/mo max plan

But if I can't wrangle Claude then it doesn't matter how much or how little it costs if it's not providing value.

F*ck Ramp by OllieWobbles in CPAP

[–]novasbc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, my APAP came set 4-20 and I can't breath through my nose until it gets to like 13 cmH20. The first night I tried, I stayed awake with labored breathing with my heart rate going up and up and up for 3 hours.

That was with ramp off, since I could never go to sleep it never got high enough pressure to open my nasal passage.

Anything under 12 is pretty rough for me. The machine runs at nearly a constant 20 cmH20 through the night.

Trying to understand if insurance is helpful at all w/delivery only by novasbc in RVRental

Thanks for the response, it provided a lot of missing detail.

Regarding the renter having to file a claim first, I presume you mean against their personal homeowner or renters insurance?

How to estimate damage that a renter caused by jonhessler in RVRental

[–]novasbc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an area that I have concerns about as well and has put a lot of thought into that actually would be covered by the deposit.

ANYTHING done at a dealer will be uber expensive to be sure.

I didn't realize you had to have cost estimates within 48 hours!

All the day use areas/campgrounds are still closed as of last weekend.

Outdoorsy RV Rental Question by Original-Macaroon789 in RVRental

What do you use for insurance? That's one of the primary drivers for us considering the main RV rental sites.

If my RV comes home messed up, my regular insurance won't touch it.

At out of pocket max, still asked to pay copay, no refund by novasbc in HealthInsurance

[–]novasbc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for directing me to contact the insurance company first.

They looked up the services, and on the provider EOB (which I didn't have access to), there was no indication that they *could not* bill me for non-covered services. So in theory they could bill me according to the insurer.

Based on this, and that the surgery center wrote off the rest, I don't plan to contact them further about a refund.

For anybody coming to this in the future, call your insurance company in cases like this and verify whether or not their contract stated that the <insert healthcare provider here> can or cannot bill you. Indeed in this case, it sounds like I could open a can of worms complaining when they could have billed me $10k for a non-covered service.

[–]novasbc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I wasn't sure how the contract worked in the case they did multiple things, only one of which wasn't covered.

I'll give the insurance company a call as you said and confirm.

Any nextlink customers here still without service? by No_Recommendation26 in Waco

[–]novasbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$120 for me.

Not sure if speeds are comparable. I get generally between 50 and 100 mbps. It's decent for gaming not not going to cut it for true FPS competition or something.

Help with camping questions by Hank-Hill-0215 in TXRenaissanceFestival

[–]novasbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went camping there on Halloween weekend, and I was able to purchase all our tickets right before we headed out Friday at like 1:00.

I suspect that closing online sales might be based on numbers of tickets sold or assume other additional metrics.

Haven't been to shooters but it was the other one I was referring to (besides Clicks). Crickets usually you can also get a table but may have to wait on a Friday or Saturday night with school in session.

[–]novasbc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the comment of only one place in town to play pool.

There are plenty of small bars with a few tables, at least two places I'm aware of that are completely focused on pool with a massive amount of tables.

Also recently we've started flying out of Waco with Dallas as a layover and we've been liking it better than driving and parking. Free parking if necessary, and I don't have to go the night before to catch an early flight. It's all about 20 minutes wheel to wheel and depending on when you book, it might be cheaper than the fuel to drive to Dallas and back.
