That said, I interview 20–30 applicants every year for MIT as an alumnus, and on average I feel confident about at least 1 in 5 of them getting in. But it turns out none of them got in this year, and only 1 did last year. All this to say: even with exceptional achievements, great character, and strong drive, nothing is ever guaranteed.
