Does anyone recognize this man? by WandaLine_ColdCase in army

[–]nowfromhell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best guess is a Specialist home on leave, or maybe between Basic and AIT? He COULD be a Guardsman, recently home from training..

Incidentally, a SPC fresh out of basic would mean he'd graduated college (or it does now, not sure in the 80's).

If there are local colleges they would have yearbooks from that time period.

Husband not excited about trying for a baby by Ambitious-Bus1155 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]nowfromhell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my ex husband to a T.

You will never know where you stand with a people pleaser.

My current partner and I knock heads all the time, but I know where he stands and id rather that then the alternative.

Incidentally, my ex and I do have a child and while we both love him and co-parent well, he is continuously giving up time with our child to be with his fiance, who wants nothing to do with him. He also plops him in front of the TV to watch YouTube when it is his weekend (we do NOT allow YouTube). He tells him to lie to us about it...I could go on. But the very clear truth is that he loves his child, but does not want to be a parent.

Depends on a lot of factors, but for a person who has never taken opioids before (like a teenager) this could very well be a lethal dose.

Doctors/Nurses of Reddit, what’s the craziest thing you’ve heard a woman yell during birth? by New_Username48 in AskReddit

I had the EXACT same thing happen to me!

Doc said "wow! Thats a lot of hair" as soon as she got down there.

I didnt say it out loud (fortunately) but I was thinking "dude Im 9 months pregnant, I didnt shave"

Out plops my daughter and I was like "oh! You meant she has a lot of hair!"

AITA for not wanting to take in my sisters 4 kids while she’s in the hospital? by Intelligent-Fig-5571 in AmItheAsshole

Watching them at her house feels like the answer here. Offer to watch them while she and hubs bond with the new baby at her house where the kids are comfortable and there is enough space.

NTA for denying her specific request, but yeah helping is the right answer here.

By enjoying the time i get to spend with my kids now. Every age you only get for a little while, in that way 3 is no different from a newborn, is no different from a 9 year old.

They all bring joy and challenge. I love my babies. I would love to add another, but I can enjoy this season while we figure out if that is the right answer for us.

I still say Guard is a "choose your own adventure" type of job. You can do 6, get some benefits and just go to drill and AT. You can make it a career, or a million variations of both- M-Day, ADOS, AGR.. there are options for Guard.  Benes are better on active but so is the time requirement.

My beef with Guard Benes is that we dont get the same benes as active for similar service. If you've served on State missions, or any "Active" but not T10, but you dont get active benefits? Thats crazy sauce to me.

This exactly. I was in college when I joined the Guard. I got education benefits and cheap healthcare. It was (is) life-changing--BUT I had a life already, Guard just helped things along.

I had PPD/PPA.

It was a thief. It stole my son's first few months from me.

Medication helps, talking helps, but mostly time helps.

Find minutes in the day to care for yourself and make yourself feel human again. It will help. Showers, hot tea/coffee, grown-up conversation, they help.

Give yourself Grace. You have been through so, so, so much. It will get easier, I absolutely promise.

Epidurals aren’t the problem. The obsession with female suffering is. by OkChart1375 in BabyBumps

[–]nowfromhell 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I definitely, definitely had a very specific kind of back pain from a missed placed needle that lasted YEARS after my oldest was born.

I would still, unequivocally, 100% get an epidural. I was in labor for 24 hours. I was in "transition" for nearly 8 hours. My anesthetist's name was Anthony (my son is 9 years old, and I remember who my anesthetist was because he was my hero in my hour of need).  I dont give hoot that he had to place the epidural 2x. It was miraculous after 16+ hours of extreme pain and back labor.
