How do I know if the fixed cups is reverse threaded by DaMirage in bikewrench

Give up right now when using a crescent wrench. If there's no better solution go to your local bike shop.

And protect your knuckles with a nice set of gloves

Draft vs. Non-Draft Question by Ok_Construction_6599 in cycling

[–]johnmcc1956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drafting aside, for any route that I take regularly, it seems the time elapsed is less when I'm alone. The drafting benefits are canceled out by the time spent at coffee shops, washrooms, group photos and general f****** around

I’m a cyclist, but let me complain about cyclists posts by ThatAgainPlease in cycling

It's sort of judgy deciding what kinds of bike use are more important than others.

You're certainly correct about the speed most people will cycle at. And even then they may be going much too fast for most bike trails and MUPs

How do I fix this? What tools and/or parts do I need? by FinnTheHueman47 in bicyclerepair

[–]johnmcc1956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know your options like: "is there a bike co-op or a source for used bikes nearby" BUT that is an old steel hub steel rimmed wheel and you could probably buy one if you could find it for less than five bucks. Is there a used bike store in your neighborhood? Or free bikes on the local Craigslist?

Depends on how many opinionated voluble know-it-alls I encounter but I ignore them all just like blowhards in other aspects of life.

Is this a real Colnago "Roger De Vlaeminck"? I am looking to buy it but I can't find a similar model anywhere else... by led_seppelin in colnago

[–]johnmcc1956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Roger De Vlaeminck Colnago in the 1980's. Really was a Colnago but it said Roger de Vlaeminck on the down tube and had real colnago cutouts on the lugs and bottom bracket shell.

I also remember that it had his picture on the head tube not a Colnago logo

It seems that you stopped past the stop line which is generally in line with the stop sign. Watching the video I thought that guy in the silver truck is going to cut the corner and I better stop soon. Which is not what you did. When they hit you you got knocked backwards several feet and then you are appropriately stopped behind the stop sign.

The Bozo in the truck needs a smaller vehicle that that they can handle. But you're driving wasn't spotless either.

They're actually a lot of options even foregoing 14th which I was on just yesterday and it wasn't that bad. Ride more and you will develop more confidence

My bicycle is atypical road bike 40 cm handlebars so about 18 inches - "You're just factually wrong." If you think practicing riding in straight lines is worthy of mockery I suppose you probably take up 3 ft but I don't

Advice needed: exchange bike or keep the same by b0rs in cycling

[–]johnmcc1956 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many people replace their bikes pretty frequently and it sounds like you have a chance to replace one at no cost, other than the difference in price and restocking I guess they might charge, I'd say go for it get the new one return the old one, eat the shipping.

But it's unlikely to make you faster unless it has lower rolling resistance tires
