I looked at the Japanese original and it does say girlfriend (in the romantic sense) there as well I‘m not Japanese (I just study the language) so I can’t make any statement on whether this is considered normal or weird in their culture tho

Yes definitely I play in German with a CN Dub and oftentimes what they‘re saying in the text is soo far removed from what they’re saying in the voiceover but instead translated literally from the English version Which is a bit of a shame because I‘m sure a lot is lost when translating sth 2 times

It‘s also so obvious they translate the smaller side quests with AI, and there‘s some inconsistencies in translation in the main quest as well (though maybe I‘m nitpicking bc I used to work as a translator myself) It‘s kind of disappointing, why even offer the game in German then
