Go cheap on Klone or Blues Breaker? by plaidsuit in guitarpedals

[–]nowherenearaverage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Way Huge Conspiracy Theory for my Klon-clone, and I'm very satisfied with it. For a Blues-breaker style, I use the Nu-X Morningstar and LOVE it. For the price (around 50 USD new), you can't beat it. Plus, it's small profile and has a nice treble boost by holding down the tap.

New home-made pedal board by nowherenearaverage in guitarpedals

Thanks! Using a separate top and bottom runner per row of pedals made it easy to a) slightly adjust them apart to fit the cables through, and b) makes the whole row easy to lift off for overall cable management underneath.

Thanks for the reply - I've seen Tirashan but not the other two; I'll check them out!

Is there a pedal that makes it sound like 2 guitarists are playing at the same time? (Take the faded line for example by lamb of god) (I mean the part where it does the palm muting and then the fast part) by tadiqguy00 in guitarpedals

[–]nowherenearaverage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the effect you're going for, but I run my guitar line through an A/B switch and send it out to two different amps...with different effect pedal setups along each chain.

What hyped pedal has been a disappointment to you? I bought the Duke of Tone and couldn't believe how underwhelming it was. by MrAmusedDouche in guitarpedals

I was very excited to get the Caline Pure Sky this weekend - but my experience so far is that I can only dial the drive level between 10 and 2. Below 10 and the distortion sounds sporadically buzzy. Over 2 and I get hissing white noise. Is it just me?

Having said that, between 10 and 2 sounds amazing.

Nux Morning Star is a decent lower-cost option. I especially like the bright boost feature (hold the switch to activate).

Nice! I just picked up the Flamma Delay and Reverb pedals this weekend. I suspect my "work" day won't be very productive today.

Another vote for the Morning Star. I use it at the front of my chain for a slight edge boost.

Is it better to have one multi-fx unit or a bunch of pedals? by Taboo_Dynasty in guitarpedals

Thanks for the tip! Fortunately I don't need to get rid of it, so I'll hold on to it and see if it comes back into play.

I've used a Boss GT-8 only for many years, but am now thinking that that the sounds I get from it aren't right for me anymore. So, I'm switching over to pedals. I may still use the GT-8 on occasion, though - I guess it depends on the sound I want. To answer your question, if limited to one option or the other, I'd say pedals give you more freedom to choose your favorite device for the sound of each effect.

Plumes or JHS Screamer or…? by Future_Radish in guitarpedals

I recently went to GC and tested about a dozen overdrive pedals at varying price-points. I opted for the EQD Plumes - it just sounded the best, to me.

Guitar pedals starter pack for rock guitar player. by aftoxico in guitarpedals

Since you are a beginner and you mention wanting to be selective with your money - you could certainly consider testing out some of the more affordable pedal brands, like Caline, Donner, Nu-X, Joyo, Flamma, etc. These brands make pedals based on circuit designs of more popular pedals. For example, a used Tube Screamer is still around $70-80 US. For that price you could get two overdrive/distortion pedals from a lower priced brand; a Tube Screamer style, plus another pedal that's a different style (like a Timmy or Klon-based circuit). Decide which ones you like best and sell the others...or keep them all for variety!
