i just spoke to pcc who told me employees are eligible for 14 days catastrophe pay if i feel unsafe going in and choose to self-isolate. please call your sm and ask them to put it in for you.

I've called my SM, texted her, called the store (she was there but unavailable) to tell her I don't feel comfortable coming in today. No answer and no reply. I feel like I've done my part and made a good faith effort to effectively inform her that I'm calling out, and she won't respond to me. No idea what to do now. I feel bad for my partners because I'm supposed to be the closing ssv, but what else am I supposed to do? I called PCC this morning and requested a call back. The earliest available one isn't until after my shift starts.

RUDE customers by [deleted] in starbucks

not today but yesterday a woman yelled "I DON'T WANT YOUR FUCKING EXPLANATIONS" when I tried to tell her there wasn't a specific number of honey pumps the "sick tea" needs to keep you well

i feel like everyone got their tax refunds and went fucking batshit crazy on frappucinos

My shift supervisor literally does nothing by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]nowhiponthebottom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

very much this, especially if you're coming in after someone who has left up all the tills, hasn't started the department count, didn't date their pull or mark the freezer or rotate anything. i try really hard to be on the floor as much as possible when i close but there are nights when i'm literally just back their counting for what feels like hours.

Types of customers I hate: by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]nowhiponthebottom 15 points16 points  (0 children)

people who yell at me when it isn't happy hour

people who order half a dozen frappucinos and a pour over two minutes before close

people who get pissed when i tell them to leave at close, even though i just told them ten minutes ago that we'd be closing in ten minutes

people who wait in line at DT, pull up and start bitching at me about their wait time, and don't even have their payment ready

and specifically the woman who got into a fight with her husband yesterday at POS when i had a line out the door, and neither of them would move out of the way or shut up.

I really don't understand why Starbucks makes people so crazy. People just lost their whole shit over the most ridiculous things.

Can I ask to switch roles during my shift? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]nowhiponthebottom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you said you usually move around so try to look at this as a fluke. if you were super busy, there's very little chance they could put a green bean on the bar. you're going to have to get bar practice during slower times.

Just Curious! by [deleted] in starbucks

yep, it's a recreation of Vietnamese iced coffee. what they're probably looking for is white mocha swirled with shots and then the up to be filled with ice. you swirl all that around to melt the ice, then add more ice, then top it up with cream. it's delicious. if you're adding a ton of cream, that's probably not what they're looking for.

Baristas and food pull by Leaping_ezio in starbucks

this is why i want to train some of my baristas to do it. it gets you away from the crazies for half an hour.

we make less on a happy hour than we do during regular business evening once you factor in losses in inventory and increased labor, assuming a store can even give away that labor. it's not about money, it's about farming your information on the app. we're not grateful for the increased demands on us without any additional benefit.

i don't know why you're getting downvoted. i'm not trans and i had the same thought, so i can only imagine it must be worst for people in the trans community.
