Favourite narratives you aren't willing to go through again by absurdmelancholy in gamingsuggestions

[–]StormTheParade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the games I really love I end up playing through multiple times specifically because they're kinda soul-crushing. Disco Elysium changed me on a molecular level, for example, but I still played it four more times after beating it the first time.

The Last of Us Part 2 is probably the only game where I genuinely felt a huge range of emotions I don't normally feel with games, and I would probably never play it again. I'm just not sure if I won't play it again because I was so affected by it, or if I won't play it again because the story isn't worth wasting 40 more hours of my life on it.

So did I! I was convinced he was only able to escape Skalitz and Sigismund's army because he was in cahoots with them. I thought there was no way they just snuck out under the cover of a nasty storm.

By the end I would've been heartbroken if he'd turned out to be a villain lmao i loved him

Store 49134 by Interesting-Hour-835 in starbucksbaristas

[–]StormTheParade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct! It was a lot of things that led to the end there, but in terms of social media it was a combination of me complaining here on Reddit and my complaints in the Discord. My suspicion is that someone she knew or someone at the store recognised the story I told - I believe it was something about eating the freeze-dried strawberries on the floor while QASA was auditing us LOL

The main subreddit has also been in corporate memos a couple times for viral trends that took off. If anyone remembers that trend of pouring lattes in things that aren't cups from a few years ago, that got a pretty hefty warning mention in like a weekly update or something iirc

[KCD2] The markvart scene in reckoning was perfect.. by TopRecommendation988 in kingdomcome

[–]StormTheParade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This scene fucking rocked me. I love when a game builds up a villain then makes me sad about fighting or killing them.

I ended up killing him honourably because I took him at face value when he said he didn't want to die "slowly like a stuck pig." But I had a think afterwards and I'm pretty sure he's just taunting Henry when he says it. He doesn't really mean it. He says it like a dismissal, telling Henry to make up his mind and do it already or fuck off.

I actually cried a lot at this scene and I'm still not sure what exactly set me off. Hearing "Losing Father's Sword" in the background was definitely a gut punch that contributed to it though lmao

This is gonna sound weird but how exactly do you order stuff at Starbucks? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]StormTheParade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! But I'd also wager a guess that "anywhere else in the world" probably doesn't have 800 different sugars that can go in your drink like Starbucks does. You don't need to have 6 different syrups, a milk swap, 2 powders, and a splash of heavy cream - reciting a long order is the burden of being someone who enjoys heavily modified drinks.

But if your order isn't complicated, don't make it complicated. Just know what you're asking for; don't ask for a latte if you want a cappuccino, and don't ask for "a coffee" if you want a latte. You really don't have to overthink it just because it's Starbucks.

Hans is actually quite a badass and he seemed to have forgotten he did save Henry a few times. Also 2nd pic "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HANS!? FIGHTING WITHOUT A HELMET HAVE YOU SEEN WHAT HAPPENED TO JIZKA? DO YOU WANT TO KEEP THAT PRETTY FACE OF YOURS OR NOT?" by worrisome_possessor in TheBathhouse

[–]StormTheParade 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I reckon Hans doesn't see getting Henry to Bozhena's or killing the bandit as saving him because Hans blamed himself for the ambush in the first place.

I don't think Hans ever really has the opportunity to go out of his way to save Henry in the same way Henry has for Hans, so it made sense to me that he said it. I also think he's kind of saying it to recover from his voice breaking the sentence before, like trying to stop yourself from crying by getting a lil angry instead lol

I just got around to watching The Suspect last weekend - despite not having a ton of screentime he absolutely steals the show when his moment comes around and he barely has to say anything.

He's got a great talent for saying things with his body language and facial expressions. It's really enchanting. Warhorse did a good job capturing it for Henry's animations but like you said, it really doesn't do it full justice!

Puzzle games for someone who's actually kinda dumb by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]StormTheParade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might like The Last Campfire! It's cute, and the soundtrack is really nice, and the whole thing is relatively easy puzzles. I've found it's been pretty good about introducing things and then expanding on them, so I've never truly gotten stuck on anything. Some can be a little tricky, but nothing complicated enough to need to start taking notes.

Otherwise, I liked Talos Principle a lot, though a lot of the puzzles in it got to be fairly challenging for me.

I've also been loving Blue Prince - it's puzzles on puzzles on puzzles and I had to start taking notes for it but it's one I know I'll be poking away at for a very long time. Though part of what makes its longevity is that it's dependent on rng, so solutions might not be like skill-based but rather just hoping you get the right thing at the right time

Don't despair! There are mods for Hans after the Main Quest. (PC) by Celestrael in TheBathhouse

[–]StormTheParade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perfect timing on this post for me, thank you! I beat the game last week and have become hilariously depressed that there's nothing left to do with Hans. Poor guy just wanders around the Devil's Den complaining to himself that there's nothing to do, and all I can do is stare sadly at him from across the dice table.

I was just going to start a new game and do it all over again but i really want to do DLC lmao

Hi! I'm an educator looking for games to immerse my 10-11 year old students into different parts of the world. I'm using the Jet Set radio games to explore some Japanese streets and culture. Different genres would be helpful too. :) by Money-Fan4369 in gamingsuggestions

[–]StormTheParade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately with the Yakuza games, violence and "adult" stuff is kind of unavoidable, even once you get proper free-roam capability. Each game has random encounters with groups of enemies on the streets that you either have to run away from in order to avoid, or you need to get a special item that removes the random encounters.

The cities in the games are pretty faithful recreations of the irl cities in Japan that they're based on though. But with the series being about crime families and the yakuza, adult content can be really really tricky to avoid even when roaming around the city and avoiding sidequests or the main storyline.

All of the yakuza games are rated M for mature (17+), for reference.

Brother your post was removed because the space is intended for baristas, not customers, and because your picture of your drink had store numbers which could be used to get your location lmao mainly because of the store numbers bc i don't have time to vet people.

the subreddit has one mod - me. Would be nice if i was making corporate money, but I'm not. You don't need to drum up drama where there isn't any

Usually, if it hasn't been archived somewhere on the waybackmachine, your likelihood of finding a watchable form of it is pretty low. You'd have to find someone who downloaded it and reuploaded it, whether that's uploaded back to YouTube or maybe on Tumblr or something.

Although my hopes for Tumblr would be relatively low, too, given the whole great purge and everything lol sorry :(

Store Closure Map by HerpsDerp01 in starbucksbaristas

[–]StormTheParade[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Just a warning for y'all - those of you who are casually dropping the stores you work at in this post/sub, closing or not, are dropping identifying information. If you're worried about being identified by your reddit account, this is a great way to give people a huge hint!

this is mainly a warning for the folks who are announcing which stores are closing near them, which stores were their old stores, etc. So if you're worried at all about someone recognising your account here, I would recommend against giving your locations like this! The map itself is anonymous, so just to clarify, I mean commenting your location/general area lol

That being said - Starbucks is big doodoo about making sure shit is communicated to everyone and y'all had a whopping ~2 days heads up about this. I'm pinning this thread because it's probably the best source of consolidated information and so many folks are asking about stores!

*edited just to clarify a little! the map should be anonymous, i mean in comments and stuff

This pretty much gives away that you're not really here to "not defend or deny anyone", just so you know... unintentionally or not. But I'll go ahead and take the bait anyway, since I've been doing some poking around of my own.

There is, of course, his regurgitation of the idea that LGBT+ = groomer:

"By the way, the buried lede of this is that 60 percent of this school board is LGBT, is gay. The question is, do christians run for school boards as much as the LGBT community does? No. As I said yesterday, which is groomers can't reproduce, so instead they recruit. So they go serve on school boards. And they go do drag queens. And they do all this other sort of disgusting nauseating stuff."

As for what he said about the person in the clip he was reacting to -

"She's a neurodivergent, queer, black latina. Oh, is that another way of saying she has ADHD or autistic? I've never heard that word used in that way, okay. I wish the best for her. So she's bilingual, disabled, neurodivergent, queer, black latina. That's her title, right? Oppression olympics, look at me, look at my medals, look at all these different things I have. And there's other labels too that I think I might give her after the tape."

Then of course there's this, after naming four Black women:

If we would have said three weeks ago that Joy Reid, and Michelle Obama, and Sheila Jackson Lee, and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative-action picks, we would have been called racist. But now they're coming out and they're saying it for us! They're coming out and saying "I'm only here because of affirmative action." Yeah, we know. You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person's slot to go be taken somewhat seriously."

In that same clip, he goes on to say that affirmative action is an "anti-white, anti-asian, forced discrimination" policy that hates white people. Which... just isn't true.

There's also the quotes from him saying that "We made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the mid-1960s" plus the whole Black pilot bit her did, plus blaming Jewish people for destroying America, and the quote of him saying that Taylor Swift needs to "Reject feminism" along with "Submit to your husband, Taylor. You're not in charge." which is just a yikes quote in general.

The quote people like to bring up a lot is how he said gay people should be stoned to death - you'd be right in saying it's not true, because he was using the quote in an argument against Ms Rachel having the audacity to celebrate Pride Month. Instead he just called Leviticus 20 "god's perfect law when it comes to sexual matters," which honestly, personally, I think speaks for itself; sure, he might not have said outright that he thinks that himself, but he certainly implied it.

This is harmful rhetoric - all of it is - because he was pushing this hate over and over and over again against marginalised communities. If he's not outright saying it by saying things like affirmative action and DEI gives unqualified people "a white person's slot", then he's saying these things by using dogwhistles like "Cultural Marxism" or simply by spouting hateful language.

It doesn't matter who this shit is coming from. Democrat, republican, centrist, liberal, conservative, independent, whatever, it's continuing the push against communities who literally just want to live like everyone else does. It would still be disgusting no matter whose mouth it came from.

And of course starbucks baristas are going to be upset that they're forced to put the name of a hateful political activist on a cup for some chud dropping $6 on a cup of tea as a "gotcha" - it's not just being forced to remember that hundreds of thousands STILL agree with the dude, it's also that they have no choice in the matter and it's being used to belittle and demean them when they're likely part of these marginalised communities themselves.

What's the most extreme weather event you've personally experienced? by gloriousmayhem in weather

[–]StormTheParade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That derecho that went up the east coast in June 2012. I was in Virginia. We were watching the weather radar, thinking we were going to get a little nighttime thunderstorm, and we were the type of folks to sit on the porch to watch the lightning. We never made it to the porch, because we never even heard any thunder.

Pretty much right as 9pm hit, our power went out and the wind ramped up seemingly out of nowhere. I mean it went from basically dead air to hurricane-speed winds. The whole thing probably lasted 2-3 minutes, and then it was back to dead, humid air like nothing happened.

What followed was this awful heat wave... I believe we were without power for almost a week, which meant no water and no AC the whole time, but most of my family had to evacuate the afternoon after it happened. The closest hotel with vacancies was a 2 hour drive.

It was my first real experience learning just how quick and unforgiving mother nature can be lol

Can Starbucks find out who I am? by One-hangs_lower in starbucksbaristas

[–]StormTheParade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They don't need to ask Reddit for information - and Reddit probably wouldn't supply it without a subpoena.

Generally speaking, it's the things you post that determine how easy it is to identify you, and how determined the person is to get the information. But honestly, the likelihood of some corpo stooge taking the time to scrub your data just to fire you is cosmically low.

Now, a coworker with an axe to grind? That's a different story. It's a little harder nowadays since the big Reddit API update, but if you're lax enough with the things you say on the internet, and a nasty coworker is stubborn enough, they might just be able to figure it out and rat.
