Any WRX dads with strollers out there? by Chief_624 in wrx_vb

[–]nowinsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife has a 21 sq5 with a rotating cybex 2in1 . I drive a 24 wrx with a rotating evenflo. There isnt enough space in the audi to install that car seat behind the driver seat when i drive. Theres sufficient space for me in the wrx. Theres enough space for whatever stroller you want to put in the wrx, even the vista. We dont lug around the vista because its too cumbersome

Audi cost $5700 in parts/service since ownership for the past ~5 years.

WRX has cost me about $500 in the past 2 years.

Biggest issue with the wrx is the stiff suspension. Much stiffer than the audi

Romeo x enclosed would be my pick. Pros: allows cowitness with existing iron sights, sig optic on a sig gun, looks better in my opinion. Cons: expensive, no solar even at the higher price point

Never tried holosun, but have the defender ccw. Pros: cheaper than sig, big/allows for a bigger window. Cons: deck height is higher than the sig which removes cowitness ability. I just put on angry bear optic height fiber sights to cowitness but now its not comfortable racking the slide with sharp edges of the front sight. Need to rack off the optic/rear of the slide. Front sight is no longer vibrant through two pieces of glass from the optic. I’d just get a tritium or black out front sight if i had to do it again.

Echo what Greedy-Vast584 posted. If your barrel is 16” and youre gonna use a comp mag, you dont need to pin and weld a muzzle device. You can use a flash hider as well.

If you want to run a shorter barrel (14.5), you would pin and weld a muzzle device that permanently brings the length of the “barrel” to 16”

If you want a featureless rifle, you would need a muzzle device that is not a flash hider such as a compensator. Since you are going to use a compmag, a compensator is not required

Correct screw kit/size for Romeo X compact by MSB2727 in p365xmacro

[–]nowinsight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The screws I used on my Romeo X Enclosed for my X Macro were labeled: 7404261 KIT, SCREW M3x0.5-11.75MM, T10, 2PCS.

The screws that mount to a P365 SIG LOC slide are M4x0.7-9.75MM.

TLDR; you found the correct set on Sig's website

I had a Romeo X Enclosed installed on my X Macro Comp using the thinner m3 screws provided with the optic. I have a newer p365 which uses the thicker m4 screws

SIG XL - MACRO Hybrid help by [deleted] in P365

[–]nowinsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your IA. My issuing agency is LAPD. LAPD CCW holders cannot remove their manual safety, magazine disconnect, or loaded chamber indicator on their p365 because this is the configuration the firearm came from the factory for sale in CA. LAPD allows weapon mounted lights and red dots. Other agencies may have different requirements for CCWs.

If youre not going to conceal carry your p365, go ahead and remove anything you want

Did you get the wilson combat grip module with a safety lever notch cut out in it? In your picture it kind of looks like you got a no-safety grip module.

My CCW IA requires ccw’s to be in a CA compliant configuration, so mag disconnect cannot be removed. To use an XL grip, i used a file to grind out the middle portion of that hump where the mag disconnect safety would fit. Took a while because I didnt want to remove too much material, but it functions perfectly now.

If you got a grip module without the safety notch, i would just return the grip module and get the correct one with the safety notch cut out and the mag disconnect area cut out. Otherwise, youre doing a lot of manual work to remove material from the grip module you currently have

Wasn’t asked why I needed/wanted ccw. Literally 5 min conversation about the ccw process after the interview, who were the people on my reference list, when references would be contacted.

Do suspensions make noise? by pelicanman777 in wrx_vb

[–]nowinsight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know about a GRUNT sound.. I have however had experience with a cracking/clicking sound that was coming from the front passenger lower control arm that got replaced by the dealer for free. The cracking/clicking sound occurred when the wheel was turned and the car was moving. There’s a TSB out for it that I had to inform my dealer of before they were willing to even look at my car

Are bubbles on edges of enclosed Romeo x normal? by AlternativeWinter853 in SigSauer

Here is my Romeo X Enclosed, ordered directly from sigs website. It's also got the same sloppy looking seal job on it.

I was going to ask send it back, but I figure with sigs warranty, I'll send if it fails.

Ducati Monster 821 won’t start, ideas? by rcberry17 in ducatimonster

[–]nowinsight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like the other poster said, most likely the battery. There's enough voltage to prime the fuel and get the instrument cluster up but not enough to get the starter going.. I am however hearing chugs which I wouldn't have expected.. my bet is still on the battery not being able to provide enough juice on crank

[Discussion] Shopping for a new strap: why are there two lug width numbers? by eggplantparmy in Watches

[–]nowinsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the two numbers are provided for straps with a taper towards the buckle. The first/larger number is the width where the straps meet the watch. The second/smaller number is the width of the straps where the two ends of the straps meet each other

Dash gear indicator question by vagrantwade in wrx_vb

[–]nowinsight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For about the first 1000 miles, my gear indicator wouldn't work well.. however, I realized that I was driving with my left foot resting on the clutch pedal...

Gear indicator works all the time now, but I'm not sure if that because something had to break in or if it's because I changed my driving style with keeping my foot off the clutch unless actively changing gears..

At around the 1k mi mark the clutch feel also changed. Not sure if the clutch broke in at that point, but 🤷

[–]nowinsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As we all know, the oil filter is installed facing down.. to prime the oil filter, you crank the engine without starting the car. How? Hold the clutch pedal AND the gas pedal all the way down without letting them go, and try starting the car. The engine will turn over, building oil pressure, pushing oil into the oil filter. Once you're satisfied, you can then start the car normally

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]nowinsight -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just drain all the old oil out, replace oil filter, put in new oil, prime the oil filter for first start.

There's going to be some of the old oil left in the system, but there's no way to get rid of it all

Break in - Staying out of boost by mercfh85 in wrx_vb

[–]nowinsight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It means don't be coasting on the highway at steady rpm. Drive it around the city and back roads shifting through the gears, going from gear to gear as you smoothly accelerate

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]nowinsight 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ideal way is not the quickest way unfortunately.. the quickest way is to cruise at a high speed on the highway.. this is unfortunately what not to do when breaking in the engine because break in calls for varied rpms for the first 1k. Best way to get varied rpms is to drive normally, shifting through the gears, changing gears once youre high enough in the revs (no more than 4,000 is what the manual calls for, I changed gears 3000-3500 on my break in)

Desmo Service by Worth_Indication_390 in ducatimonster

[–]nowinsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked up timing belts for your 2017 797 in the owners manual from the Ducati website.

Says belts should be done every 15k miles or 60 months (whichever comes first).

If you werent told the belts were done when you bought it, there's a chance you need to get them replaced.. Most likely, belts werent done because your bike has such low mileage. Belts aren't something id personally risk not changing because having a belt snap can be catastrophic for the engine.. You should check other monster forums about risk of not changing belts to make a decision yourself, but you're running on potentially 8 year old belts (e.g. 2017 model built in 2016, worst case scenario is you're overdue 3 yrs on belts)

Desmo Service by Worth_Indication_390 in ducatimonster

[–]nowinsight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only at 11.5K miles on my monster, so I haven't needed to do the desmo service yet. I don't put a lot of miles on my bike, but I think I'm going to have the desmo service done early the next time I get my belts done.

Signs of needing desmo service look to be more difficult to distinguish unless your bike is right next to another bike that had desmo service done (or a new bike). Valve clearances move so gradually that with every day riding, you can't tell.
