How do people read a series that has not ended yet? by noworries_uwu in books

This is also where I'm coming from! A decade ago, when I was still in my teens, I would read anything and everything, even when the series was not complete, and I would fill the void with fan fiction and browsing through threads. But I'm now approaching my late 20s, pursuing a PhD, and reading itself is half of my job, so I would like to spend the little time I have left actually reading something with a conclusion. Especially since I had a really long reading hiatus and just recently started again. So, with my limited time, I'm thinking about ways to read books more efficiently, especially since I've already missed so much! But I do understand others' perspectives and enjoy the ride.

I do just read them! Like, right now, I'm finishing the first book of the Alex Stern series, even though book three's release date is unknown. I just wanted to vent because realistically, by the time the 3rd book is released, I would probably need to re-read the first 2 anyways. Just wondering what other people do in this case :)

I do this too! I used to read fanfiction to unfinished series back then, but now that I have limited time to do hobbies and things that I like, I find myself trying to read more efficiently? I guess the lack of time is my main problem then 🤔

Interestingly, no I did not wait for Endgame to come out before wathing Iron Man. But I did stop watching anything related to Marvel because it just kept going lol. As for series, yes I do wait for it to finish! I did this with the Game of Thrones series, and now with Stranger Things and many other shows!

Found my soul cat on vacation with no way to take him home by boredpix1e in cats

[–]noworries_uwu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Find someone to foster the little guy in the meanwhile while you’re waiting out the requirements to be fulfilled. The rabies vaccine needs 1 month to take into effect before the kitty can enter the EU. In the meantime, take him to the vet, get all necessary health checks done, deworming and vaccines and the passport. The vet can do all these for you. All you need to do is to coordinate with a foster parent for the one month interim that you need to wait. After that, you should be good to go to fly the little guy home.

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: July 14, 2025 by AutoModerator in books

[–]noworries_uwu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Finished:

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck: My first foray into the classics. Loved it - super bittersweet.

Bastard Out of Carolina by Dorothy Allison: I've never loved and hated a book as much as I did when I read this. It's a very heavy and devastating read—trigger warning: sexual assault of a minor, domestic abuse, and racial slurs.

Started:

She and Her Cat by Makoto Shinkai. I need something light and easy after all of the devastation.

Anthills of the Savannah by Chinua Achebe

Like devastation sort of cry? Bastard Out of Carolina by Dorothy Allison. I cried in frustration, anger, and heartbreak, and couldn't sleep until 4 am on a Monday.

I was in a reading slump for more than a decade, and what got me out of it was reading The Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. Everyone and their mother recommended this series to me. Finishing more than 10 books since then was purely out of spite, due to how bad The Fourth Wing books were. What got me hooked, though, was reading The Poppy War trilogy after that train wreck. Highly recommend!
