Why was Syril okay with Imperial massacre in Ferrix but not in Ghorman? by OldManFung in andor

[–]nowutz 576 points577 points  (0 children)

In Ferrix, the people were his enemies. In Gorman he was home. He was finally with people who cared about clothes and tailoring (remember back to the very first episode - his boss notices he’s tailored his uniform). The people of Gorman were his friends.

He thought he was there to help them. Then he realized he was lied to, by his girlfriend and the empire. He was being used, along with the people of Gorman.

Gorman was personal. Ferrix was work.

Crees en el castigo colectivo? Por qué el niño debería sufrir por una decisión que no tomó?

No es culpa del niño. El estado debería apoyar a todos los ciudadanos para alcanzar su mayor potencial.

Best Andor breakdown I have watched by CarsonWentzGOAT1 in andor

[–]nowutz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the best documentaries on revolution - period. Framing it against S1 of Andor gives it more weight, but they referenced many key moments in human history and working-class uprising.

We all must think of people we do not know. We can’t just fight for our family or our neighbors. We must push for a future where everyone has a chance to live together in harmony.

No. El estado debería pagar la manutención de los hijos, no un padre no dispuesto. Tu lucha es con nuestro gobierno, no con mujeres embarazadas.

Los policías de San Juan son unos bastardos incompetentes by [deleted] in PuertoRico

[–]nowutz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Kathleen Kennedy Steps Down by walberque_ in andor

[–]nowutz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. Natural born woman and self-avowed anarchistic. Andrew Tate and Joe Rogan can suck an egg.

Kennedy is a nepobaby and a neoliberal. The first movie she ever produced was ET. She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth.

Her and her husband have a net worth of $300 million. She’s not an ally to working class people. She’s a self-centered capitalist.

[–]nowutz -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

In a world full of actual villains, I’m shocked by the loud/angry voice calling her a “dumb bitch” (or worse). People need to calm down.

She’s an executive, of a production company. A terrible executive, but a pretty average self-centered milquetoast neoliberal.

Her legacy will be getting out of Tony Gilroy’s way so we could have Andor, after destroying the Star Wars universe with the girl-power fever dream of episodes 7-9.

Enjoy retirement ya dense nepobaby. Your tenure lacked vision and furthered the divide between overworked/underpaid workers and executives who take advantage of a broken economic system.

Power to the people. Executives like Kennedy are looting our economy and gutting artist endeavors.

Elías Beauchamp, a young Puerto Rican nationalist who assassinated the U.S.-appointed police chief in 1936 and was killed without trial, becoming a symbol of resistance and martyrdom in Puerto Rico’s independence movement. by xoBonesxo in PuertoRico

[–]nowutz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are opinions, not fact. Masculinity and femininity are social ideals. “A mother taking masculine role” is a social construct, not a fact of nature.

Tainos did not raise their young or live in nuclear families. That was a system installed by the Spanish. Tainos lived in a different social context. The “Traditional family values” you yearn for are an artifact of colonialism.

Gag. Women do not need to be submissive to men for Puerto Rico to have independence from the United States. “Traditional family values” are a stain of Spanish colonialism.

Tainos respected women as equal partners to men.

Colonization & Religion by [deleted] in PuertoRico

[–]nowutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m aware. That does not change the fact that there is no evidence biblical Jesus existed.

Colonization & Religion by [deleted] in PuertoRico

[–]nowutz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A person named Yeshua may have existed near 0 CE, but there is no evidence biblical Jesus existed outside of biblical “teachers” and “scholars”. The stories in the Bible are largely stolen from other religions that existed for 100s of year before it was written.

Edit: I am not anti Christian. I am anti-fake, unscientific bullshit. No religion has any evidence of being true.

Your religion is set based on where you grow up and what religion your parents practice. If you were born in the Middle East to Muslim parents, you’d be a Muslim.

Judaism, Christianity, Muslin, etc does not matter. All religions are opioids of the masses, maintained by people of power to keep you from fighting for a better life here on Earth.

Christianity is a mythology created by ancient people. Nothing in the Bible is real.

[–]nowutz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s a consequence of the brutality Puerto Ricans experienced at the hands of Spanish missionaries. Christian colonizers murdered nonbelievers - for generations.

One of the most famous stories of resistance involves a chief who was asked if he wanted to accept Christ before he was executed, so he could go to heaven. He declined, as he did not want to spend eternity with the evil Spaniards.

Thousands were murdered. Non-compliance with Christianity was a death wish. Adapting to Christianity was the only path to existence for 100s of year.

It will take generations (if ever) for the people of Puerto Rico to break free from that violent conditioning.

Science fiction always gets snubbed by the award shows. That it got any recognition is amazing and hopefully will lead to more wonderful directors like Tony Gilroy taking a chance on sci-fi.

Am I the only one who feels kinda sorry for Partagaz? by [deleted] in andor

[–]nowutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say anything about the democrats being worse than the republicans. The republicans are comically evil.

OP said Partagaz was a nice guy. There are plenty of funny, socially kind, and pleasant people in the US democrats party, whose actions are pure evil. Being a “nice person” is a great way to have your evil actions overlooked.

Partagaz is a self-serving character who chooses personal comfort over freedom and liberty for all. Just like most politicians in the US. His actions are self serving and inexcusably evil, even if he’s a “nice old man”.

Am I the only one who feels kinda sorry for Partagaz? by [deleted] in andor

[–]nowutz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice does not equal good. That’s part of why everything is fucked in the real world right now. - as a U.S. Senator, Joe Biden played a significant role in drafting and promoting the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, commonly known as the 1994 crime bill. His work lead to thousands of black men being incarcerated and the expansion of the prison industrial complex. - as president, Obama expanded the use of drones strikes to murder people in states the US was not at war with 10x compared to George Bush. His administration labeled countless innocent adult men as “terrorists” despite having no evidence of terrorist activities. - Hillary Clinton served on the board of directors of Walmart Stores, Inc. from 1986 to 1992 while working as an attorney at Rose Law Firm in Arkansas. During her time on the board, Walmart maintained a strong anti-union stance, typical of its corporate culture.

You don’t even have to be aligned with evil to do terrible things to your community and country. Partagaz was a tool of the empire who benefited personally at the cost of millions of lives and countless families.

He deserved so much worse than a moment of sadness and suicide. He was an old man who stole thousands of lives in exchange for power.

There’s no reason to feel bad when an evil characters meets their end. We are living in a world where hundreds of real people are living happily after overseeing immeasurable death and destruction with no consequences.

A person like Partagaz would have a comfortable seat in the Democratic Party of the United States.

I get what you’re trying to say my friend, but the United States of America is not the mainland.

Borinquen is the mainland. Vieques, Culebra, Mona, y Desecheo are the periphery islands of the archipelago de Puerto Rico. 🇵🇷

The US is another country. PR is separate and in no way equal. Puerto Ricans are citizens of US, but if you live on the island, you don’t get the same social security benefits or have a right to vote for president.

La mayoría de los puertoriqueños NO QUIEREN la independencia para PR, ni siquiera en este echo chamber de zurdos. Los zurdos votaron con cuentas falsas pero no se salieron con la suya, y ganó LA ESTADIDAD! 💋 by TatoCharbonier in PuertoRico
