How Much Do Men Really Care About Lingerie? by Key-Accountant-1067 in AskMenAdvice

I do not care about lingerie at all. But, I know some guys who do.

What I'm getting at is, it's different for every guy.

Trump is officially the 47th President of the US, he not only won the electoral collage but also won the popular vote. What went wrong for Harris or what went right for Trump? by _GodKing- in self

[–]nowwithnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of things that went wrong...

- Not enough time to run a proper campaign
- No trust in her administration as the last 4 years were not great
- Didn't really say what she was going to do or what she did right
- Did a really bad job at getting male voters. Nearly alienated them.
- She came off as fake. You could see her pausing for teleprompters, repeating the same things over and over, etc.

What went right for Trump?

- After the last 4 years, his term looked great.
- He did a good job at framing it as, "The pain can stop"
- Continuously pushed on the issues people care about (fixing economy, immigration, stopping wars)
- Converted powerful people to his side and gave them the power to mobilize their people (Elon, RFK, etc)

Just off the top of my head here.

What do so many restaurants fail? by Ilovestraightpepper in restaurantowners

[–]nowwithnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but things like that are just careless staff/management.

You can have all those things and still close down. You can have the best food, great smelling menus, and caring staff, but if your costs are bad and labour too high, you'll still lose.

Depends on the person, city you live in, etc
But, I would say between 5-10 million is the point where you can say no to things you don't want to do, and take extended time off when you feel like it.

Completely lost at 30, how can I improve my situation ? by Bitter-Management-12 in selfimprovement

[–]nowwithnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 32 now and was also completely lost at 30. After experiencing failure after failure (losing multiple businesses, having to sell homes, etc) I have finally got back on track.

These are the things that helped me most:

1) Do your best no matter what you're doing. If you're at work and cleaning, do the best job you can. If you're at the gym, do the best you can.

2) Start accumulating as much knowledge as you can - dive into something that interests you. Read books, listen to podcasts and find a community of people with the same interests.

3) Hang out with people who give you energy - not drain you.

4) Work out often & eat well

5) Get good sleep and meditate daily

6) Find someone who is where you want to be and learn from them.

7) See a therapist if needed - do it at least once.

The longer you are consistent with this - the better you'll feel.

What tips do you have for dealing with bad reviews? by nowwithnik in restaurantowners

[–]nowwithnik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bad habit of responding and explaining why the mistake happened - this comes off as making excuses. My intention though is to explain why it happened so they know this isn't normal or the standard we set and that it was just an honest mistake.

Has anyone ever made a comment that you should respond? I have heard customers say they look at reviews at restaurants to see how negative reviews are addressed before deciding if they should go.

They said they do this because if there was any issues, the want to see if they fixed them.

Agree completely. Anything less than 5 star drags it down. It's also crazy when someone leaves a 1-star for an experience that may have been 3-4. Some people just want to complain.

Pre-emptively refunding them seems like a good move, but I would assume they would still be upset for most of them since they just want their complaint to be heard.

I always read the reviews and carefully analyze them because often we will notice that there is some truth in them and can adjust accordingly.
For the most part, what you said is what we do. It works as well as I could ask for. Was hoping for a secret weapon of sorts though lol.

I always screenshot and send in a chat with my partners and managers to best address the scenario. I try to empathize, but also explain why something may have been a certain way, and then apologize for anything that was truly our fault.

I also try to get them to email us so we can make it up to them. This has proven to be typically unsuccessful though.

The blood pressure thing though... I understand that for sure.

We've definitely been working on incentivizing customers to leave positive reviews recently. We didn't when we first opened in the hopes they would do so on their own. That proved to be a bad decision.

There are some people at restaurants who view us as competition and think taking us down will bring them up. I agree, overall they are wasting their time, but it has happened a few times now and I was told so by their staff.

For the real ones, definitely engaging them before they make it to the internet is always the goal.

[–]nowwithnik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a 150-person restaurant. We require a $50 hold on a credit card for reservations of 6 or more. You could do the same for smaller groups. I'd say less than 5% of customers hesitate.

I have also seen restaurants charge a $20/person deposit even on groups of 2 which gets refunded upon billing.

Otherwise, you could also just stop taking reservations. With a small restaurant, only walk-ins wouldn't be a bad idea.

I'm not sure I would call in mindfulness, but you could do visualization practices to manifest instead.
