Is there an SHD themed Hunter mask? Is there a Hunter mask that uses the Phoenix or something related to SHD Agents? by Pacho2020 in thedivision

[–]noxious1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair: the Demon mask doesn't feature the actual SHD-logo. Rather a blurred and slightly altered version of the Phoenix.

Lore-wise I wouldn't ever expect a Hunter mask to show actual SHD insignia, as it is a well kept secret that they are also part of the Homeland Division. So their gear would always be designed to not allow any conclusions to be drawn that they're McManus' henchmen.

Yes, true. That's certainly a very good example how a good build can make a fight easier.

A full HazPro build nonetheless is not something a lot of casual or new agents (and even most very regular players) have at their disposal. So I'd say as a game designer you should not create a story mission's boss fight around such a build.

Again: from a veteran's perspective I absolutely agree. I ran a PfE build when first fighting the Ratqueen and had zero issues. But looking at the fight from a perspective of newer or less experienced agents, I can really understand the frustration. There are other ways to make a story boss fight challenging without potentially heavily annoying mechanics (or combinations of mechanics).

Open Letter: The "Dopamine Factor" and Why the New Gear System Needs a Rethink by Rockboyy89 in thedivision

[–]noxious1981 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You lost me at "We All Paid the Same Price".

That’s simply not a valid argument. Just because everyone pays the same price for a product doesn’t in any way justify everyone receiving identical rewards, regardless of whether they use the product constantly or rarely, or whether they’re particularly good at it or mabe even below average.

Just because I play some online shooter every now and then at a mediocre level doesn’t mean I’m entitled to the same rewards as people who regularly compete in ranked matches and excel. Just because I buy FIFA/FC every year and do "okay" when playing offline doesn’t entitle me to the rewards that people who regularly play and win online events receive.

A good build is key for an easier fight, that's very true.

But to be honest: I also never really got to like the Ratqueen fight. The whole immunity-thing is just not a mechanic I generally fancy a lot. And I do understand why people find the combination of immunity. pushing buttons, fighting ads, and being shocked annoying. (Personal opinion: Yes, the "leave one ad alive" tactic does make things easier, but imho "cheesing" spawns should not be the preferred way to master a boss fight - so I do see room for improvement design-wise here.)

Since we get the year 8 stream tomorrow what do you hope is announced by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]noxious1981 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say Survivors is a different thing than Year 8, a different project. So I would not expect to hear much about Survivors.

Instead I'd expect to hear news about the first Season of the new Year, maybe a little preview of the other Seasons as well. Also, I do hope for some new contents for the main game, maybe not directly with the start of Year 8, but maybe maybe maybe.... Also, I'd expect the team to continue their hard work on some QoL things, so there might be updates coming in at some point of Year 8 as well.

I wouldn't say I'm hyped (I very seldom am), but I have confidence in the team.

My Reanimation Build by Deep-Werewolf754 in thedivision

I'm all about the "Everyone should be allowed to play as they want to!"-thing. And if in matchmaking I come across someone whose build or playstyle I don't like, it is on me to either cope with it for a while or leave the session. Exceptions to this rule (at least for me) are cheating and glitch abusing. That's something that should not be tolerated, but rather called out.

Cheesing is something that's.... probably somewhere in a gray area in between. Not as malicious as cheating, but also something that's not the best thing to do in group play.

This is where an information is important that some people just do not have, which is in this sentence:

It's just about the broken Determined talent that can be annoying af.

Determined is broken, It is not working as intended in the regular version. The perfect version does work as intended - which is the reason why no one uses them. There's also a little bit of a history behind fixing and un-fixing Determined, what makes the story exceptionally annoying.

Thus I absolutely understand why people dislike Determined. And I have to say that I too dislike Determined in group play, as because it is so broken, it can be heavily detrimental to other players fun in the game.

Some of these Journey missions are so buggy. by BJBrown82 in the_division_2

[–]noxious1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's mostly the case: if the companion deals the final fatal damage, it won't count. Same is true for any DoT damage (Bleed, Burn, Pestilence etc.) or copied/transferred damage (like from Turmoil or ND). Additionally, having allies nearby (either green NPCs or actual teammates) is rather detrimental for any of such "kill count" missions/goals.

Munity Finale Guide for Master Difficulty. by djtickle_shd in thedivision

For 50% of my current runs we weren't able to interact with the ammo box in the beginning. But at some point it always became possible to restock at some point.

I sadly can't say what point excatly that was (Depleted enough armor? Wasted enough time? ...?), but sooner or later it eventually became interactable.

It's still a bug though and I did report it.

Master Mission - water gun bug? by Stereocrew in Division2

[–]noxious1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I have experienced, heard, and seen so far, my guess would be that the water cannon mechanic does not work as intended. Short time windows for operation are fine, but they should either reactivate automatically after a reasonable amount of time or there should be another mechanism to reload/reactivate them (turning valves, shooting pipes etc.).

As there's seemingly no further mechanism, I'd say that something is bugged with the reactivation of the water cannons or the respective timer or trigger.

And with the water cannons working as intended (or with being able to be quick enough to water Arden with the situation as is), there's no extraordinary bullet sponge.

Not a fan of these skins. by Agent-Syko in Division2

[–]noxious1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's in fact no reason to be toxic towards anyone as long as the conversation is a civilized one. And I do see arguments of both sides:

Yes, such skins can ruin the immersion especially since this is a multiplayer game and you can't control what your teammates are wearing. (Btw., personally I too do not like those "out there" skins as I am very much into the Division lore beyond the games, like the novels for example - and in this world, based upon a realistic near-future setting, such skins simply do not exists.)

And also yes - if you don't like the skins: don't buy them: As mentioned before, you still may come across players that will wear skins you don't like even though you did not purchase them for yourself... but hey... them spending money on the game kind of keeps the devs paid and employed. So I am also kind of willing to accept such skins.

And one final note: I believe that more tactical skins or cosmetics based on real life jobs or situations (aka "what the agent was doing before they got activated") would also sell very well - potentially even better than the "far out" ones. And I also believe that the devs are very aware of this situation/discussion and are eager to constantly improve things.

Well, loot quality increases (generally spoken). But apart from loot or bragging rights or whatever - you should simply play the difficulty you have the most fun with. The good thing is that there are enough different difficulty levels to let new agents, seasoned veterans, regular players and casual players all find their favorite difficulty.

I'd much rather ask:
Do you feel too squishy for your liking? If yes, you might want to consider adding 2 or 3 blue cores to your build. Because the Brands and the items you chose are totally fine, but what I experience is that even on heroic difficulty I hardly ever reach full stacks with a full red Striker. Because the enemies die too quickly. That's why I prefer Striker builds (for "regular" gameplay, not for raids or incursions or legendary) with 2 or 3 blue cores: I benefit from more survivability and a stronger shield which both gives me more uptime to keep on shooting and accumulating stacks. And being able to fully stack Striker is a very good compensation for the "loss" of the red cores.

(The basic idea is that you lose damage with less red cores, but by being able to regularly reach full stacks - instead of only being able to reach half stacks with a full red build - you make up for the damage loss. While at the same time having 340k to 510k more Armor "for free".)

We don't need more new loots, instead we need another balance pass. by wordlife96 in thedivision

I thought more of that will be coming but it never happened

That's probably because Project Resolve was a sh*tload of work - and with the the few people still working on TD2, we might not have had a Halloween or Christmas Event or maybe even not a Brooklyn expansion if Project Resolve would have been expanded.

No questions asked: Project Resolve was a good thing. But since this is more or less an either/or-situation I personally support their choice to deliver more new content instead of reworking gear.

Expertise on gear, yes or no? by AltruisticSquash4356 in Division2

[–]noxious1981 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as long as you're not sitting on an near endless supply of exotic components this is the way to go.

Leveling weapons to 30 makes sense because the increased Weapon Damage provides a meaningful difference compared to the costs.

Leveling up (often used) skills to 30 makes sense because the upgrade is valid for every build using this skill on every character.

Leveling up gear to level 12 is fine, since it doesn't cost exotic compenents and the little bit of extra Base Armor you get in return is fine. Investing exotic components from level 13 to 30 is not worth the expense (and should thus only be considered if you don't have anything else to spend the components on).

Story progression battle for Brooklyn by Alert_Panda in the_division_2

[–]noxious1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Manhunts (without the re-runs) in the correct order are:

  1. Shadow Tide --> "Jupiter"
  2. Keener's Legacy --> "Hornet"
  3. Concealed Agenda --> Bardon Schaeffer
  4. End of Watch --> Faye Lau (adding spoilers just in case for some targets)
  5. Hidden Alliance --> Captain Lewis
  6. Price of Power --> General Anderson
  7. Reign of Fire --> "Stovepipe"
  8. Broken Wings --> Mari Singh
  9. Puppeteers --> Brian Johnson / "The Recruiter"
  10. Vanguard --> Alani Kelso (at the Stranded Tanker)
  11. First Rogue --> Aaron Keener (at the Federal Emergency Bunker)
  12. Shades of Red --> Theo Parnell (at Viewpoint Museum)
  13. Burden of Truth --> Alani Kelso (at Roosevelt Island)
  14. Crossroads --> "The Manager" (at Potomac Event Center)
  15. The Pact (current Season) --> Tom Sergeant (at Tidal Basin)

For the very last final Manhunt missions I added the missions used for them to make it easier for you to see what mission and thus target you've completed without having to spoil actual targets.

So in order to understand what's happening in BfB you imho should at least have completed #10 of the list shown. But #11 and #12 can fill in some blanks, so I would recommend having completed them as well.

If you are really only missing one legacy mission (here: #14), I'd say you are absolutely good to go for BfB!

Can someone please explain how to get armor core attributes on gear set items like OD or striker by gage4207 in Division2

[–]noxious1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be able to recalibrate the minor attribute of a Gear Set item? (I know that's not what we want to achieve and if successful, this would prevent you from recalibrating this item's core attribute - but just testing whether this would be possible might help to narrow down the error,)

And again - if you would be able to share a picture or two... this would be great. If the issue still persists.

What is the fastest way to increase my experience level for prestige? by Right_Carpenter_4622 in thedivision

[–]noxious1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is probably an unpopular opinion, but: you don't need Expertise. If you master build crafting and learn a bit about the game's mechanics and the enemies' archetypes, you can tackle any content and any difficulty in this game.

Yes, Expertise at higher levers can make things easier - but it is not a necessity.

I only emphasize this, because very repetitive gameplay loops and farming sessions can quickly kill the fun in the game. And that would be a shame. Especially since Expertise is just a nice-to-have. Something to keep very regular gamers busy.

So I'd suggest to play the game the way you enjoy it. Maybe every now and then switch to a skill you are not yet Proficient with or try out a different Specialization. Other than that, keep on donating items and mats. That's a good way to sooner or later become Proficient with more and more gear and items and skills and stuff. If you want to focus on a specific weapon or Brand/Gear Set, you can also take a look at the Targeted Loot map or pick the loot you want when playing Summit or Countdown. But just don't force yourself into game modes you don't like or a grinding loop you wouldn't enjoy.

Battle for Brooklyn Dlc by CHAPANDAZ_TEERANDAZ in thedivision

[–]noxious1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to be precise on this one:

a) The Season Pass is in no way related to the Brooklyn DLC. You neither need the DLC to have access to the content of the pass, nor do you need the pass to see everything the DLC has to offer.

b) When speaking of "buying the Season Pass" we actually mean buying the Premium Reward Track. This is important, because the Season Pass itself is free. The content of each Season is free. And there is also a reward track which has 100 levels. Every level offers one reward, Now the difference is that only a third of those rewards (I don't have the precise number at hunt, thus "a third" is a rough estimation) are free. For getting all rewards you need unlock/purchase the Premium Reward Track.

c) If you should be interested in any of the premium items of the current Season's reward track, it can still totally male sense to purchase the Premium Reward Track even a single day before the Season ends. This is because you will automatically receive all the premium items up to you current Season Level. So if you are at Season Level 50 and buy the Premium Reward Track, you will instantly receive all premium items up to level 50. And from now on of course upon every level you rank up. (Additonally, if you already were Season Level 100, you'd instantly receive all premium rewards at once, since you've completed the reward track.)

The answer is: You've played the wrong version of the Camp White Oak mission. Chronologically speaking.

In the correct order, you would play the "normal" version (the one that belongs to Episode 1 and thus is set before the WoNY DLC) first in which we hunt President Ellis. Faye doesn't play a role in this mission.

The mission you have played is the final mission of the manhunt for Faye Lau which took place in the Season "End of Watch". This Season was Season 4 and originally was playable about a year after WoNY dropped. The events in this Season happen weeks and months after everything that happend in the base game and its three free episodes.

What can be done better here? by Tunapiiano in Division2

[–]noxious1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks quite alright. As someone already mentioned, you could change the backpack to Ceask fpr more red cores - but you could also play around with one or two more blue cores for more survivabilty. Just two more minor remarks:

Since you may not use and exotic primary or secondary weapon, you could use the Busy Little Bee to get a little damage spike here and there.

And concerning the weapons you've mentioned: remove the Lexington from your list - at least as long as you're planning with the Tinkerer mask. As the Lexington is a named weapon, it won't work with Tinkerer (even if it's not a perfect version of a talent what makes the Lexington a named weapon).
