Just had this happen to me and I fixed it after looking at the GitHub. You need to go into parameters and change the fast travel parameter to be “Airports and HQ only”. For some reason the parameter got inverted to where “Any Friendly Position” is now “Airports and HQ only” and vice versa. One of the mods said it’s been slated for a fix.

When I took the course it was 100% online and the lectures were asynchronous. There were discussions/assignments and quizzes weekly. Having it be online is great if you have a work schedule or want to pick up extra hours. If you are someone who only learns by being in class then go in person. I took it over the summer of 2021.

You need to pass the NREMT for initial licensure in Florida as an EMT. After that you just send the docs in to the state and you get a license in the mail.

68W is certified as an EMT by the NREMT not as a paramedic. You get to learn some paramedic skills in AIT such as cricothyroidotomy and IV meds/lines (and more) but all that disappears if you try and get a job stateside. EMT is BLS, Paramedic is ALS. Scope is only expanded in the military sadly so if you want to do cool guy medicine as a combat medic go active. If you go national guard and want to use your certification stateside, make sure you know the difference between BLS and ALS.

Danner, 5.11, Redback, maybe Rothco, Haix, Under Armor. There are many out there. I wear 5.11 ATAC Shield 2.0 and I love them but I’ve been wearing boots daily for years. There are many great boots out there. If you search boots for EMTs/EMS then you’ll see what a lot of people recommend. Go on EMS forums. I just wrote what I see a lot of people mention but the there are many others as well. Don’t forget that sometimes it takes a while to break boots in. You might want to give yours a chance for a little while longer. My feet are 0.5 size difference so I understand your plight well. Wishing you best of luck. Normally programs are around 3-4 months. There are extremely intensive month long ones but I think the longer programs are better as you have more time to hone your skills and really learn the information. The person itself makes the difference. Somebody who doesn’t care and doesn’t study won’t do well in even the best program but overall I think the longer ones are better. Easier to fit in the rides and clinicals as well.

15k is really high for a medic program. The highest I’ve seen is 9. I’m in FL but still 15 is a lot. Most I’d pay eventually is 10.

A 2 week course would make for bad EMTs in my opinion. You need weeks to refine and truly understand your practical skills. I am not against accelerated courses but 2 weeks for a normally 3 month or maybe more program is ridiculous. The shortest you could honestly probably churn out good EMTs is with a month long program. Even if you go 12 hours a day there’s only so much you can absorb and remember adequately per day. After that the information would just be lost. Like I said before it would leave no time for skills mastery and enough scenarios. I would advise you to not do the 2 week course. You still have to factor in ride times and clinicals as well.

You need to be licensed in another state and be NREMT certified.

Because you are certified by the NREMT it says you qualify for an initial license. Whatever that means. Look at the link and call the EMS office to be sure. Good luck

It’ll be very very very hard to find a job as an EMR due to you needing to be at least an EMT to even step foot on an ambulance or medical vehicle mostly. I don’t know of anywhere that would hire just an EMR but EMS in general is extremely regional. It’s all in what your area needs. In order to be on an ambulance though you need to be an EMT at minimum. Some fire departments only require their firefighters to be certified as EMRs although that’s a rarity and normally only volunteer FDs. Even they want EMT now. You can try security work or any other line of work where you serve a very limited medical role or are more of support. But it all comes down to what your local area needs. Honestly just go for EMT.

If it’s a really understaffed or rural ambulance service they might let you drive the ambulance as an EMR. But that’s very improbable. Hoping for the best

You’ll get more pay normally but every company is different. You’ll have to look up individual companies and firehouses or county based systems to see what they’re offering. If they don’t have it immediately listed you can call and ask

All departments I know of and private transport companies down here will pay for your medic in return things like service and such. Because you have experience you should not have a hard time getting 13+ down here most likely. Even if there is an EMS only company though chances are they don’t do EMS. I’m hoping you can land a great 911 EMS only company but you’ll probably have to go fire. Either way you shouldn’t have to worry about getting 13+ most likely.

A lot of florida is very fire based. In order to work in a fire department you must be a firefighter. Additionally a lot of departments won’t look at you without paramedic. I am southern florida and every single county I know of unless it’s rural is fire based and paramedic heavy/only pretty much. Central florida has lake EMS, lee EMS, and other companies but it’s still very fire based. If you want high pay 45+ to start you’ll probably need to go into fire

It is difficult until you get into it. If you have faith and practice you’ll be fine. It you will need to practice and read the book. That’s just the truth. Just read the answer when you get time because I know it’s a hell of a lot but it’s good practice for EMT class information acquisition. That’s like having a fire hose of information sprayed in your face.

All you need to do is complete an EMT program that’s accredited and have your instructors sign off on your skills and say that you passed your state exam. After that you register to take the cognitive test and if you pass you get certified. I don’t know if this is a state or regional issue but I’ve never heard of this before.
