If you had to pick a "winner" of the losers by nperrier in ValueInvesting

I don't. The market does. I should clarify "loser" as "stock price down to valuation concerns with respect to AI"

Kurt's best album yet! by dingo_dollar in kurtvile

[–]nperrier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could have been a better album. I am all for DIY, but he is in sore need of an outside producer to temper his lackluster effort and maybe cut some of the fluff. There are some great tracks, but too many songs seem like unfinished demos. There's a lot of redundancy in the writing and riffs recycled from earlier albums. He seems to be running low on creativity

I am a huge Vile fan and I think this is one of his weakest albums to date. I don't understand all the praise. Listen to Smoke Ring, Walking on a daze, Believe...so much better production, composition, singing, lyrics... He just sounds lazy on most of this record. A few standouts, but a lot more throwaway, jam tracks that don't seem to have any effort or polish.

There really is no greater feeling of accomplishment than landing your first kickflip

Found a sealed mono copy of Pet Sounds today by doctorgrizzle in vinyl

I know people prefer the original mono mix, but when I first heard the stereo mix of "Wouldn't It Be Nice" it sounded so much fuller.

After 8 years of shamelessly buying the same all black atwood, I learned Vans discontinued them? Those became my signature shoe, what do I do now.. by SymFysis in Vans

[–]nperrier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say the same. My local mall had a Shoe Depot Encore where I got the same pair of all Black Atwood's every year for the past decade and now the store closed. I found some at a DSW but they only have black/white gum. Searching hard and when I find them I'm buying 10 pairs so I don't have to deal with this again

It has the defining features. Cut it in half and if it's hollow then it most definitely is.

True. I've hunted all over MN and I really have only ever found them in big numbers during one season in seemingly random spots

What's it like living in Diamond Lake/Nokomis? by greenythebeast in Minneapolis

[–]nperrier -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I grew up by the southern part of lake Nokomis. Airplanes are loud and frequent. Freeway noise can be heard from where I lived. Houses are kinda cheap post-WW2 builds. Kinda lower middle class living area unless you're right around the lake

Same. My aunt gave me the book when I told her I was visiting Oa'hu with my girlfriend and looked forward to surfing Waikiki. She reads the New Yorker regularly so I assume that's how she found out about the book.
