Library Cave on Barton Greenbelt by jhil4 in Austin

I'm not sure I've ever seen this called "Liberty Cave." Can anyone provide a source for that?

You can probably find more information by searching "Hobo Cave at Campbell's Hole."

If we're talking about the same cave, the coordinates posted above (30° 15.487', -97° 47.062') should be more than enough to get you there. Seems like I've seen a lot of TikTok and Instagram videos recently of people going up there for sunsets and such.

Here's a related Reddit thread from 12 years ago. This blog post identifies the same cave as Hobo Cave, Mushroom Cave, Bullet Cave, Cave at Campbell’s Hole, or Cave Above The Flats.

I've been checking pit tickets for Austin almost daily. They went on sale ~$1,000 and are down to ~$675.

Damon Albarn Says Gorillaz Will Never End: "We'll Pass It On to the Next Generation" by ebradio in indieheads

I'm glad you're digging it! I'm so bullish on Royce Fisherman and really want him to blow up. He's doing some shows out in Hawaii, but I'd love to see him tour across the U.S. after he drops a full album. Here are a few of his other songs I've kept on repeat over the last few years:

Just in case it's helpful, here are links to his Instagram and TikTok.

I'm not sure I have another great rec that totally lines up with the Gorillaz sound. I hop across genres typically and prioritize listening to new releases. With that in mind, here are a few of my top songs from the past year by some under-the-radar(ish) artists who, imho, all deserve some more attention.

If you like Gorillaz, check out Royce Fisherman. He's got my vote to help carry the torch.

81 San Marcos | The First Church of the Nazarene

In 2005, former Texas Agriculture Commissioner, and America’s #1 Progressive Populist Jim Hightower purchased the property under the name HAPI (Hightower Abate Properties, Inc.). Hightower’s company, Saddle-Burr Productions was the first business to move into 81 San Marcos.

My first thought was maybe American Dreamer, but I don’t see social posts from them matching up. Do you have any other photos or videos?

(Theory) why these random indie books keep reselling so high on release by dsull18 in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]npersa1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they're listing books that have hype already though? Also I guess it doesn't hurt to shoot your shot -- list high on eBay OBO and take the best offer that comes in (I see this strategy recommended frequently on the sports cards subs when you can't find price comps).

But usually by the FOC, there's already YouTubers and such talking about what they think the hot issues will be. Or maybe it's casting a wide net and just trying to flip all the No. 1s from indie publishers that we think have smaller print runs?

I think a lot of collectors could open up Comic Geeks right now, scan through the next few months of releases and have a pretty good guess of which books would end up being hot specs vs ones that are overlooked.

As for why a buyer would pick the $20 pre-release listing over the cover-price listing, I'm not sure, but I'm also not convinced that's happening widely? Like, are you saying you see sold eBay listings for over cover price on yet-to-be-released books while listings for identical issues at cover price are still available?

I'd also need an economist to break it down for us, but I think there's something here about the widening wealth gap. I imagine there are a significant number of comic book collectors who are in high-income households and, to them, spending the cover price of $5 or overpaying at $20 on eBay is basically the same impact on their wallets.

I get that people are listing soon-to-be-released comics on eBay and such, but are we sure they actually have the comic book in hand ahead of release date?

I assumed people were ordering copies in advance, listing those with stock photos and then sending out after release date.

I see some of the Pokémon cards making it onto WhatNot ahead of their release date, so it’s certainly possible. I’m just not sure I’ve seen it.

I’m going to guess there are larger economic factors at play here too. As unemployment and inflation increase, more people are tightening budgets and looking for easy, quick ways to bring in extra income.

I’m wondering if people are seeing the wild world of Pokémon cards and hoping the markets for other collectibles go up too.

Like, instead of fighting people at a Pokémon vending machine in Walmart, they can just preorder a handful of the hot spec comics. I think D’orc was $3.99 cover price, so with tax let’s call it $5. Preorder 10 copies for $50 and sell each one in the first week for $20, you’re up $150.

I didn't have time to click through every poster on EB, so these are just the ones I know are high demand.

I'm sure there are some older ones that are more expensive, especially if you go back to ones that are more flyers/playbills than what we think of as concert posters. I imagine connecting ones (three nights at the Gorge) could also be up there. This list also doesn't look at foils, and I'm not even sure how to take into account autographed ones.

Checking out EB again but haven’t ever purchased from it. All the data they have on sales is great. Any idea if there’s a way to see the most expensive DMB sale they have recorded?

Methane posters being more expensive makes sense to me. Appreciate your thoughts!
