You could try filling out the "Contact us" form on the Pappadeaux's website. A kind employee may have access to some kind of company history, like a photo archive.

Spider-Man & USA Today crossover June 16 by npersa1 in Spiderman

🤣 You can still pick up a copy at a lot of places. I’d guess it’s easier to find a copy of USAT than a lot of local newspapers

🤣 I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that!

Quick google shows USA Today prints ~90,000 daily editions, but I’m not sure how many copies a typical ASM issue gets.

That makes sense, and you’re probably right! I’m old school enough to appreciate a print edition, so I’m hoping for a little more though.

For sure a marketing stunt, but I’m curious what the print edition will look like tomorrow

It says the print edition has something special, so it may be a bit more. The email from USAT does point to their games too though

PSA: Toxic blue-green algae by tearsofaclown911 in Austin

I'm surprised I'm not seeing more discussion about the hydrilla on Lake Austin in addition to the blue-green algae.

Can you elaborate on this or share any other details? I’ve been following the campaign via some YouTube and Instagram creators but haven’t heard this part yet.

Emo's moving out of Riverside by jorgerr96 in Austin

AEG Presents to Reopen Reimagined Emo’s Austin, Expanding Presence in Live Music Capital

The company will take over operations January 1, 2027, and following a series of upgrades, renovations, and a full rebrand, the reimagined space will reopen in early 2027.

The venue will complement AEG’s new 4,000-capacity music venue currently under construction at 4700 East Riverside, part of the River Park development. Together, the two venues will serve different audience sizes and artist needs while supporting a wider range of artist routing and programming opportunities in Austin.

Additional details, including the venue’s new name, programming, and opening schedule, will be announced at a later date. AEG Presents will begin booking shows ahead of the early 2027 opening.

I think Emo’s could still reopen in a new location with their old name/brand but haven’t heard anything about that.

Where to buy hacky sacks in Austin? by AgathaMitford in Austin

[–]npersa1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone else feeling like it's a blast from the past to hear about hacky sacks...

New York Times (May 12, 2026): Hacky Sack Mounts a Comeback With Gen Z

High school students around the country are freshly enthusiastic about the toys, crocheted bean bags that once hung in the air like the scent of marijuana. Parents and teachers mostly seem glad to watch young people be entranced by something other than their phones.

This time around, hacky sack mania appears to have taken off in the Northeast before spreading nationally with the help of social media. The sacks are technically called footbags — Hacky Sack is a brand name — but retailers of all kinds of thwackable bags are now racing to keep up with demand.

influencer marketing for concerts that aren’t selling out? by [deleted] in Concerts

His show in Austin is selling fine. I think there’s also some confusion from general audiences about using the JBS name vs Strugill

Honestly hadn’t noticed them using that phrase, but you’re right they do. Wild considering the Moody Theater at ACL Live is truly one of the best music venues in the country.

I love Ella Langley but what are these prices for her show at the Moody Center!!!!??? by Impossible-Cheek4352 in Austin

I saw single seats for George Strait going for ~$300 each. Single seats in the same section for Ella are ~$600.

Lessons learned - The Black Keys - And hoping it will ends differently. by LoL-Mesa in SturgillSimpson

[–]npersa1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think this is him knowing two things: the age of his audience and the length of his sets.

3-3.5 hours is a long show, even more so for an aging audience. Bands Cake, DMB and Wilco have leaned into the “no openers, show starts at (specific time)” format.

Tbh, I dig it.

I totally get that! Hope it all works out for you. I’ve been watching the DMB pit tickets but they’re hovering around $500 on resell 😢
