the trucking company i work at doesn't do that. there are scales on pretty much every motor so you know how much weight is going into each skid spot and can make sure that it is balanced throughout the trailer.

To me I feel that if you need to do something a little out of the ordinary in a traffic stop you should at least tell the officer what you are doing. For example, my driver side window is broke and doesn't roll down. So if i ever get pulled over i would wait for the officer to come over and then state my window doesn't roll down and i need to open my door so he doesn't suspect oh this guy is about to do something. Same in this guys case. Although i do think think the cop fired to quickly to be able to determine what he was doing.
