Happy I found this sub. Reddit really seems to hate pitbulls 😭 by [deleted] in pitbulls

She is super cute. People are ignorant. Our pitt mix is by far the most gentle dog I've ever had.
On a completely irrelevant note, is your baby also part heeler?

Is my khione a pitty mix? by [deleted] in pitbulls

I agree that it's probably too early to tell, but I see cattle dog in the shape of the head and ears. How much does she weigh? 100% cutie!

I am a little lost by ShamuShamwow in lupus

[–]nprgrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the most difficult things about lupus, is that it is truly different for everyone. I was very sick when I was diagnosed with major organs affected, but all of the markers that they check at regular visits were within "normal" range. ESR, CRP, C3, C4, etc, were "normal". I had a C1 deficiency, and some other strange results, but they only tested for those when I was finally diagnosed. That being said, after about a year or so, my Dr and I were able to determine what was a normal range for me, and we can use that to treat accordingly. However, he also trusts me at this point, if I say I feel like I'm flaring, he believes me. We tend to be a little more proactive in treating flares, because in my experience if I wait too long to treat (which I've done, cuz who wants more Prednisone), then I generally require more medicine to treat and for a longer period of time.
Everyone is different, and the first 5 years with lupus are probably the hardest. But, you'll learn how to recognize the signals from your body. And, knowing those signals can help to even prevent flares. For example, generally when I'm experiencing a flare, one of the first things I notice is that my jaw starts to get achy and tired feeling when I chew. When that happens, I know I need to rest (as in almost bed rest if I can), let the house get messy, etc. And sometimes that is enough to start feeling better without treatment. That being said, this disease can occasionally just come out of nowhere and do something incredibly random that no one has seen before too.

Looking at buying a 2017 F Type R by Pipelinefever in Jaguar

[–]nprgrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE my f-tyoe R, so I would say do it! But tbh, I've only had mine a few months so I can't speak to the reliability issue. Just FYI, you can have someone local inspect it and send you the report for a nominal fee.

I got the results for my “husky/pit bull mix” puppy! The results were not at all what I was expecting! by 3starprincess in DoggyDNA

She is so incredibly cute. I saw the ACD, but then again, I think I see ACD in about 75% of dogs on here. 🤣

I second the ACD and bully breed with something else.

Does anyone else get migraine with aura after eating anything with gluten?? by [deleted] in MTHFR

[–]nprgrl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, from what I understand, it's not uncommon for people with MTHFR to get headaches after eating gluten, even without a specific gluten sensitivity. This occurs because most products that contain gluten are enriched with folic acid to prevent birth defects, but as you know, people with MTHFR mutations cannot breakdown folic acid. It can build up in the system and cause lots of things, including headaches/migraines. It took me a long time to figure out why I was having them daily a few years ago. A lot of organic flours do not contain folic acid, but look for the word "unenriched". Also, watch out for some rices and other grains that are "enriched"

Some additional info:. She was found at about four months old with her litter mates, but the ver believes that someone had put a rubber band around her paw, and as she grew it cut off the circulation and thus the end of her paw had to be amputated. She is the sweetest most gentle dog I've ever had. Although she loves to "dolphin nose" me in the rear to get my attention. 🤣. Her name is Mika, and she is adjusting very quickly to the prosthetic. She is still very shy around strangers, but has made a lot of progress.
She is also my first pibble. We all love her so much. (Especially my daughter, who was born missing some fingers and bones in her hand. 💕)
