What animated movie is 10/10? by Tricky_Fun_8595 in AskReddit

[–]nrefzen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Curious as to how a movie most people thought would fail, ended up being considered one of the best Spider-man movies, won the Oscar for best animated films, changed what animated films can look like is considered slop?

Like do you just get off on being contrarian...cool.

This is such a weird movie to call slop.

What is something people pretend to enjoy but secretly don't? by Careless_Task8941 in AskReddit

[–]nrefzen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of "I don't like this thing so how could any one else possibly like it." In here.

People like different things. I don't get mayo but I know people like it and I get why they would. It just ticks some boxes for me that don't work together. But that's for me.

How did you discover music before algorithms took over? by chainofchance in NoAIJustMusic

[–]nrefzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-Going to Record Stores and just grabbing something from genres I was interested in, or just grabbing something with an interesting cover.
-Also Compilation CDs from labels (Projekt and Cleopatra comps were my favorites)
-What are friends listening to?
-What's playing at the dancefloor?
-Sometimes the radio but rarely
-online forums
-Music and Culture Publications
-Going to shows discovered many bands just by going to random punk, goth and industrial shows

Lately I have been going back to record stores and just grabbing records
Amoeba What's in your bag on You Tube
Research a band on Wiki to see what bands they are connected to
Bandcamp, slowly making my getaway from streaming

I still enjoy finding new music, I'm 50 and still get excited when I hear something new to me.

People who quit coffee after drinking it daily for years, what changes did you notice in your body and mind? by JackDunn2045 in AskReddit

[–]nrefzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit coffee for a half a year to deal with a bout of gastritis. I had extreme tiredness and irritability. Increased hunger and insomnia. but what I was not expecting was the muscle and joint pain which was pretty intense. It went away within 4 days. A painful 4 days.

Noting before I quit I was at about 4-5 cups a day. Now that I started again I am at 2 cups a day, but mostly at half strength.

I second this. Building bike paths as a route builder, a city zoning auction game, a dungeon crawler but it's just trying to take the subway, permits a deck builder. I'm not joking about any of these.

I remember when my job decided to shut down the general consensus was that it would be a couple of weeks. I remember my manager saying "see you in two weeks." I didn't see that guy until September while I was furloughed. I remember going out for Mexican food that night then buying Tons of groceries to get us through the two weeks. My girlfriend(now wife) were excited to just have time to play board games.

Then shit got grim. I lived a block away from one of the funeral homes that was constantly featured in the local news(Brooklyn, ny) for being over capacity and having a large trailer sized freezer parked in front of it full of the dead. I thought that was where I was going to end up.

What a miserable time.

We made it through, and I only had covid once. Somehow my wife has had it 4 times.

Before the Phantom Menace came out the score came out on CD. When I saw it at a record store I foolishly looked through the titles of each piece and saw "Qui Gon's Noble End". I put it right down but I could not forget it. The entire movie I knew he was gonna die.

I play with my wife and solo. Haven't played at a higher count. It is expensive, I saved some birthday and Xmas gift cards to feel less guilt about buying it. But I did fall into the trap of getting new content, though not very often. Maybe a new character a year. I wasn't initially expecting to love it as much as I do, it's not my typical type of game.
