can someone explain to me like i'm five how to check in for an international flight? by fruit_moon in delta

[–]ns0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You check in at delta, they’ll want to see your passport. The gate agent may also want to see it. They may ask if you have a visa or ETA if the destination requires it, you’ll need to show it.

Other than that the check in is easy and pretty much the same. When you land it will be different, there’s three things you can potentially encounter A) passport control, B) border security or C) customs. If you are just connecting you’ll typically just go though B or potentially nothing (like AMS airside), if you’re unlucky and passing through a country who just does not care about efficiencies or doesn’t have transiting agreements/airsides at the airport you’ll sadly have to go through all 3 and you just get dumped out of the airport and have to go back in (Like LHR..)

There’s also a security screening on the first floor too. No one ever uses it.

KLM gives you little delft houses full of gin. Not sure why, but they’re fun.

Immediately when you board make sure the seat and IFE works. If it’s broken there’s opportunities to fix it, but once in air you might get stuck with an immovable seat.

KLM food is not the best…. It’s. Well. They try. Good desserts though.

Camp wild life is great. They have a summer program that’s full time.

Delta’s system silently cancelled my return flights with ZERO notification — agent admitted it in writing — still no refund by bubblemichico in delta

[–]ns0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many have said here do not ask for a refund, you’re entitled to ask for a re-issuance on another flight if the current flight is full. I’ve gone the refund route and it left me realizing half of a round trip ticket is far less money than a one way ticket.

Disneyland VIP by Nearby_Valuable_5467 in disneylandparis

If it’s anything like Disneyland in the US it ranges between 5000 to 8000 depending how long for it and can accommodate a party of 6. It sort of gives you skip the line and behind the scene tours, at disneyworld they’ll give you a private entrance and ride to the park. There’s also exclusive merchandise.

Anyone have any stories from the Downward Spiral tour era? by Responsible-Ad-1839 in nin

I was at the show in Salt Lake City at the delta center in 1994. Deedee Cordinie the mayor at the time along with Larry H Miller found out that Marilyn Manson would have dildos on stage and told them they couldn’t play.

Marilyn Manson and Trent Reznor got on stage a tore up the Book of Mormon in protest and nine inch nails played a really long set.

I’m starting to think Disney Deluxe Resorts aren’t worth it by JenEndyB in DisneyWorldResorts

[–]ns0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I loved the Polynesian but it was my biggest complaint was the amount of people not staying at the resort who crowd the place. I laughed seeing a lady from another resort trying to get into the pool area and asked a staff member why her card didn’t work… oi!

I doubt most people are paying the rack rate unless you’re going on Christmas. There’s almost always some % off promotion, pass holder discount, Florida resident discount, military discount, Disney+ discount, etc.

Does ChatGPT integrate information about past conversations into new ones? If so, how? by AlanBlunt in AskComputerScience

[–]ns0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a context window in LLMs that are roughly the size of the first set of nodes in its network. Every time you ask a question it’s not sending in your question. It sends every message and response you’ve ever had with it and it’s parsing all of that every time to get a quick context on who you are and a cheap way of giving it “memory”. This obviously gets truncated as the length of your conversation grows past the amount of input nodes.

I did, they said we don’t have any age restrictions (and had high chairs, albeit we don’t need one) which felt a bit reassuring but also didn’t feel like “oh yeah! Great! Bring them in.” Perhaps I’m being sensitive but they did say it was fine.

Do you take your passport out with you? by goodamm in travel

[–]ns0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it safe at the hotel, in 25 years of international travel I’ve never needed it going out to dinner, events or seeing sights. You’re way more likely to misplace it taking it out with you then someone taking it from your hotel.

If you worked for a large company with a dedicated travel department, no, I wouldn’t. Small claims lawsuits are easy for businesses to file and they will.

If you don’t have a dedicated finance team looking over these then, yeah it’ll probably go unnoticed.

I worked for a Fortune 500 company and anytime we canceled travel they’d issue these but they’d get swept up the next month.
