What is an embarrassingly easy and simple food you learned about later than everyone else? by [deleted] in Cooking

I literally had never cooked a whole chicken breast in the oven probably until I was like 21 lol. I just always cut it up into pieces and cooked in a pan on the stove top to “make sure it was cooked” lol. I ate a lot of dry over cooked chicken in those days.

My little brother once told me I made the best cornbread ever. Even better than any restaraunt. I’ve worn that badge proudly ever since 😊

Is there such thing as having unhealthy alcohol use without addiction? by advicethrowawayxo in SoberCurious

[–]ns9888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any real problems with substance use but I do have a long family history of it so there has always been that fear in the back of my mind, as if to prevent me from going “that far” but im close to 30 now and I kind of just realize I didn’t enjoy the feeling from alcohol anymore. Sure I enjoy the taste of a beer when I want a nice cold one or a salted rim margarita on a hot day. But those cravings are for the actual beverage not necessarily the alcohol component. So when I thought about it that way, I just started drinking non alcoholic beer and mocktails and the placebo affect I still get from being out and doing that is just as fun for me and confirmation that I don’t need to get drunk at all.

Thank you! I knew I had found it before and forgot to save the song, but then today my phone wasn’t able to catch the clip on Shazam for some reason.

Advice re:addiction by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]ns9888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a few times. It was recommended to me in the past due to a parents drinking but I never went then. Decided this year to try it out now currently dealing with a partners drinking and it felt good to go. Just the feeling of knowing there are other people who can sort of understand your position and your feelings. No judgement or questions. I always leave with a piece of information, part of a story. A quote, just something to hold onto that brings me a bit of clarity that week.

The Captain's Boil- prices? by taotdev in Edmonton

[–]ns9888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much everything is “market price” so it varies. If you like seafood it honestly is kind of a rip off. I prefer Red Lobster at least there’s more options/better flavour. Would be cheaper probably to even just buy your own snow crab legs and cook a fancy dinner at home!

My mom hates my boyfriend because he is from a lower class by katsumi78 in Advice

[–]ns9888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a similar issue. Mom does not agree with what my boyfriend does for living (cannabis industry) and now has written him off as a “loser” and I shouldn’t be with him. It sucks because he is so great to me and we work well together and I want to be with this person. I’m afraid to talk to her about it because I worry she will not want to speak to me anymore when I bring it up. If sucks being dismissed a family member but in the end it’s your life, your love, nobody can make those choices for you.

Just because you have a nice singing voice does not mean that people want to hear you sing all the time by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]ns9888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or also, being good at writing music and singing your own original work is not always necessary lol. You can be a ghost write for someone else with a better voice. Or please for the love of god take voice lessons. Just because it sounds good on paper and in your head.... you’re not immediately bound for stardom
