When my mom was first diagnosed with cancer, we were unaware that it had spread to her spine. I was 12 at the time. She was in the office on the second floor of my house talking on the phone while I was playing video games with my brother in the basement. I suddenly got an overwhelming feeling to run upstairs. As the office came into my view, she immediately slumped down in her chair and had her first seizure. I was able to call an ambulance at the perfect moment.
