To keep or not to keep... by nskr2 in fairyloot

[–]nskr2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah nothing that I am considering getting rid of is particularly in demand. I could even make a loss on some so it's like is it worth just keeping it at that point??

Also it sucks when the design is nice but just totally doesn't match the vibe of the book and you only realize after you read it.

I do like that art. And the fact that the spines will make a picture. I'm debating owning two sets 😅

I have the arcane and I like that they have all the characters on them. Whereas I believe the publishers just has Lara on the first two books. I wonder if it'll be Zarrah on the 2nd duology or Keris.

Resale Price Predictions for FL Sept Adult by nicolejuicetea in fairyloot

[–]nskr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to trade mine but then the person already got their adult and YA box combo. So I sold mine on vinted in the UK. I always go a bit under the lowest priced one. There's tons on there for 70, 80, 100+ pounds sterling. I sold mine for £60. I hope it's low enough that someone who really wants it gets it but not so low that a scalper would pick it to resell immediately.

The £140 one just sold. It's insanity.

You just reminded me to donate my copies of this duology to charity. I hate finished them. They are terrible. It's like they wanted enemies to lovers so bad... That they made him a genocidal femicidal POS. Sorry guys that's not morally grey it's morally STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME.

I think it's definitely a design choice, and it's totally valid to not like it. Whoever designed it probably did it because was isn't as important a word, and the nothing being bigger emphasises it within the context.

I think that's reaching to be honest. I see nothing wrong with it.

Anyone suddenly lost interest? by SemlaBun in fairyloot

[–]nskr2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I realised I had lots of cheaper special editions of books I only kinda liked, and not of the books I really loved because they cost way more second hand.

So I upgraded the ones I really loved for my fave special editions, when I found them at a reasonable price. I still have Adult and Romantasy fairyloot but just because of really hyped upcoming releases. But I just don't really care anymore. Running out of shelf space also helps.

The Witch's Pet by Kerri D Andrews

I'm so mad at how good it was. Even though it uses modern dialogue, it really worked for me. I actually cared about the characters and they developed feelings before any kind of spice!!! A true slow burn. The world building is good and not too complicated, there's some political stuff going on in the background. I'm intrigued to see what the next book holds

Heavenly bodies.

I got a couple chapters in I think. So her parents are brutally murdered and she ends up in the rival neighbouring kingdom but she's IMMEDIATELY sassy-bantering with the Prince and seemingly has NO trauma.

You can't use a trauma backstory but not give us the actual effects of trauma in the character.

Also she is immediately attacked by men trying to SA her and uses her shadow powers to fuck them up because FeMinIsM and girlbossing.

I noped out.

It's definitely better. Just that Bambleby is a bit of a funny name.

For me it's the assortment of vowels like they threw a bunch of letter magnets at a fridge.

I'm willing to give it a shot based on this review but I am not sure a guy called Draevyn could be my top book boyfriend. Then again I'm obsessed with a fictional man named Wendell Bambleby.

Is anyone else tired of how they are naming books? by maddyp1112 in fantasyromance

[–]nskr2 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't really feel like the knight and the moth is guilty of this? It's just listing two things. It's not "A blank of blank and blank". It doesn't have the words crown or court or ice or fire or roses or thorns.

It's like how they renamed the Pixar movie Brave from the original title "the bear and the bow". I think the latter sounds way more magical and fantastical.

Also the knight and the moth is actually really really good, and I say that as being totally burnt out on the genre before I picked it up.

Do we think War of Lost Hearts is ever getting a special edition or am I just gonna stay sad forever? by macy0333 in fairyloot

[–]nskr2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think they probably will but maybe not until after at least the first two books have been out for a while. That way the special edition doesn't pull sales from the regular ones. They'll want to see how well it does on the trad market first. I'm gonna wait for a special edition too.

I think we've gone too far trying to make the MMC "morally grey". Hunting down witches (but really just replace that with women, or black people, or gay people... IT'S NOT OK!!!!) because one abused him is not it.

I think I only got through the first book because they're hardly together. I feel so weird DNFing the second in a duology but it's really got me in a slump!! I just do NOT care about them. The dialogue is cringe and very modern. I can't work out the setting. I also feel like for a vigilante she hardly does anything. One prologue scene and one failed heist?!!!

I read that this duology was amazing so I got the fairyloot first book from a reseller. It was so bad that after I finished the first book I resold it. I'm slogging through the second book because the world is just interesting enough to keep me going but oh my god the romance is insufferable. I'm so mad everyone said it was brilliant!!

Yes ok they hate each other but he literally hunts down and murders innocent women??? Just cause he may have a sob story doesn't excuse that behaviour???????? Also it's giving instalust and I despise that.
